Wasn't it the father of one of the Spanish board members (Xavier or F6L913 ) who drove one with a scraper in the late 60's ??

600 hp Deutz in an ag-tractor has Kirovets written all over it. Possibly they'll use the engine in their new 30+ft combine made in kroatia also (or the writer of the article misstook the combine for a tractor...).

It could be right. Belarus have been contacted by Same Deutz Fahr (SDF) in June 2005 to discuss a cooperation betwen them to give John Deere more competition on the world market. Belarus are hard working to develope new tractors +100hp to close this market segment in the former USSR and CIS. For some examples I can mention Belarus 3022 - 300hp Belarus 3622 - 360hp Belarus 4502 - 450hp catepillar tractor with Detroit S60 engine with capacity to 500hp. the engine type is 05182_457 or 05184_s60 and has 12,7L Belarus have anounced that they think, that tractor developement in 2 years from now will be in the tractor group +450hp because of the bigger farms. You can see the text above translated from the site www.tractors.com.by/xml/rss.php?content=presskit&lang=ruON the "Minsk Tractor Plant" (MTZ) it discusses possibilities for cooperation with the international industrial group Same Deutz-Fahr Group, the Director-General of the association Aleksandr pukhovoy reported at the press conference. According to him, this producer of tractors turned himself to MTZ with the proposal of joint activity for the purpose of the creation of the successful competition of the American company John Deere, which begins to gradually displace the production of European producers from the world market. Director general MTZ does not thus far call the concrete forms of collaboration with Same Deutz-Fahr Group. "however any joint business will be achieved on the equal conditions with the equal participation of sides, regardless of the fact, there will be this joint production or joint advance of production", he emphasized. He also reported To a. pukhovoy that at present MTZ examine a whole series of programs with the participation of foreign companies. Moreover, it noted, given by programs is provided for the creation of contemporary tractor productions not only in Minsk, but also in the regions, in particular, Mozir and Smorgoni. Will be interesting to see what happens here.
From what i know of the SAME range they seem to concentrate on the 80-130 hp market. So if SDF wanted to extend their range it would be desirable to do joint partnerships with other companies who have the capabilites and resources to implement such a program
What do other think
Jas
On a related note in NZ the TAMA figures for 2005 illustrated that the average horse power was down 10 hp. From what i have heard this is because of accountants depreciating higher horse power tractors more than the standard horsepower tractors, because of the limited resale market.
Any thoughts???

a Russian company challenging a 160odd year old company, hmm???
The russians are not renound for their err, straight dealing are they? Just ask gas customers. They strike up a deal to run a pipe line through your country in return for cheap gas and every thing is fine. Then the price of gas doubles and they decide to turn off the gas when the country balks at having a 3 fold increase in the agreed price.
You set up a privately owned oil company in Russia and the government decides it doesn't like privately held companies after all (even though it was happy enough to take their money) so they impose a special tax just for you at 100% of earning. Then when the chairman of said company bends over backwards to try to accomidate the crazy tax bill, they put him in jail for non paymeny of tax that he had not a hope of being able to pay and steal back his company.
They buy a Scottish Premier football team and install a "manager" and sack him when they are only second in the league even when the owner is picking the team anyway.
Deere must be quaking in their boots.

If Agco are going for a common platform for the MF, Fendt and Valtra machines then we will see a CNH problem again when sales of one of the brands will disapear. To do this would be a big mistake in my view.
