well what a can of worms. I'm split between the old yellow wheeles red david brown 880 and the fiat 540. both extremly reliable, I think I would lean to the fiat its hydraulics were a better. but the 880 was great for its vintage.
I can't agree with the iseki comments we have got a 9000 its had two front end rebiulds in 3500hrs, the hydraulics leak like a sieve, but the engine is great no doupt about that.
my fendt 716 has 5500hrs on it and is going well but had a go bad early. does that rule it out of most reliable if its a waranty job?

iseki front end?.....we replace seals in the front end of one of our isekis.......put that down to running in deep mud and juice from a silage stack stuff happens!.......lol......on the tractor that replace that one, we broke both sides of the front axle (NH) here is a iseki which had the engine removed in favour of a 350 chev i think, coupled to a allison auto this pic was taken, tide to a telephone pole with a chain! this tractor is still raced, many years on, but is now painted case ih red, and i think it has a bigger motor you are right the fiat 540 was a solid mule, we had use of a 640 mfwd and front blade when i was younger, i have also became fond of the 850 and 70-66dt laters pudding

NAAAAAIIIIIICE pics, pudding !!
Over here, putting a Chev engine in old Fordson Dexta and MF 35 is getting more usual, for tractor drag racing... Is more fun than tractor pulling if you like racing more than tinkering in the workshop....

NZ tractor racing is a lil different to conventional moving sled pulls
we rate them on a dyno..............wieght the sled, and hook it to the drawbar over a bar between the lower links
this gives weight transfer
rules, no wheel stands, and tractor pto hp must be under 130hp for production tractors
race tractor like the ISEKI?......just wieght the sled, and fastest to the other end........wheelies are the standard, mud over everyone is expected speeds comparable to a car is expected!!
they race either 2 or 3 tractors beside each other.......price??............bragging rights
lol
i have seen the racing tractors you talk about.............that is crazy!
take it easy (or anyway you can get it!)

A Friend has told me of a tractor which only lasted 6.5 years, but I would like to enter it in "the most reliable" category. It was used by a Farmer on contract to a coal mine. It was delivered to site attached to a PTO pump, filled with diesel and set going for 6.5 years, maintenance was nill (just topping up the levels when needed and changing the filters once a year) giving an approx total of 54,500 hours until it died!! I'm seeing him tomorrow and find the make out. Oh and 'Funny Guy' ...get a life I think your village is missing it's idiot.
