In the local dealer of AGCO, they said to me that Massey Ferguson is the only brand with the last generation of Perkins motors, all the others brands (like Landini, Mc Cormick,...) are still using motors without the last evolution.
Is this correct or only a marketing point?

Landini also claims to use "green" engines.

Xavier,
How are things in Catalonia?
Massey has usually had dibs on the latest in Perkins technology. As former owner and now as Perkins largest user. Landini and McCormick will get the latest tech, but later.

I've heard Landini wants to mount other engines in his Legend 105: The perkins 6 cyl. without turbo are not confirm the TIER 2 norms!! I can't believe Perkins is not able to make all engines confirm the latest norms, but when a Lanini (& McCormick?) wants to chose another engine-manufactor, there must be something wrong?!?!
The wether is very nice here, I 'm gonna take a ride with my "McCormick": Farmal D-320: just warm up, then drive the 46 year old good machine! Later.

I donĀ“t think so. The Perkins 6 zyl without turbo is mounted on the MF 6260 also. I heard Perkins is changing something on the injection technics to konfirm the EURO 3 for the future. Do not know about waht TIER 2 and EURO 3 are compared to each other.

probably it's true Perkins can't build good working 6 cyl. engines with less fuelconsumption. What engines are mounted in the Lavenda combines etc? Is it Iveco? Or as MF SISU?

Hey guys, the Claas Xerion toolcarrier has a Perk !! "The new Perkins 1306 Edi engine has six cylinders in line and 8.7 litres cubic capacity." www.claas.com/produktseiten/produkte/xerion/uk_int/index.phpWhy dont MF uses this engine, and Claas uses this Perk instead of a Merc (as they did for years) If Perkins cant build good big engines complying to Euro 3, they should go to Tatra. Tatra is the onliest truck brand in the world with a truck engine that meets the Euro 3 emission regulations with a mechanical controlled fuel pump. They take 408 hp from a 12.6 litre V8. Extremely torquey it is. www.tatra.czfuel pump manufactured by: www.motorpal.czBy the way: Why are all Perkins engines, old or new, dropping oil from the oilcarter??

Well, Perkins is now CAT. CAT sold Lexion's in America, Claas sold Challengers in europe. Maybe Claas put the Perkins because of CAT. Lexion's used Perkins and Mercedes, now use CAT engines. I think all is brand politics, i give you my combines, you give me your engines

No, Deutz cant do that with a standard in-line mechanical fuel pump on such an engine..
They build their own air cooled V8. It's a very special engine, because of the mechanical control, and also, the crankshaft is seated in roller bearings. That means much less engine wear in extreme climatic conditions, the oil pressure is less important than with slide bearings in desert operations, and in arctic conditions, again the oil has less hydrodynamic duty when the oil is cold an thick. The Saudi's love them, even the Americans, they used the saudi's Tatra fleet with the operation Desert storm early 90's in Iraq. It is designed as an extreme heavy duty army and offroad truck.
Currently, Tatra is aquired by SDC, a daughter company of Terex. The American army signed a contract for lots of Tatras with American engine and several components. These trucks will be marketed as, depending on the area and duty, sold as Tatra in Europe and asia, as American Truck for the U.S. Army, and as Terex for construction work.
The current production program consists of models with 540 hp Deutz water cooled V8 and Twin Disc auto trans. The strongest tank transporter has an MTU 840 hp engine, with Twin Disc 10 speed auto trans. They are able to pull a load of 120 tons through the desert.
I might buy a four axle T-813 one day. The biggest truck from late sixties. there are loads of them in old sovjet army stocks.

Hey Renze,
I think Tatra won the Paris-Dakar two years ago with a Deutz engine, isn't it? I also read that before the BF8L1015 the Tatra's were powered by the Deutz F8L413

That could be for the 540 hp tank transporter, but Tatra always had its own 360 hp T-928 V8. latest version has 408 hp Euro 3
