No, Kenjar, But could you imagine, late eighties, a Ford-Fiat? Or a Steyr-Case? or a CNH?
The Lanz buyout was more imaginable, since both brands used old fashioned engines. Deere the horizontal two cylinder, and Lanz the horizontal one cylinder hotbulb. The first Deere-Lanz tractors were high-rev four cylinder tractors with a short stroke.

Yes, Laapa, I was being somewhat extreme with the "Green Menace" comment. I was also being overly dramatic and just having a little fun at the Deere guys' expense. Not that I'm necessarily anti-Deere, but they are the successful badguy that everybody loves to hate. But again, if anyone was going to try to take Valtra why wouldn't it be Claas? They really need a partner to shore up their product line and there aren't many candidates left. I agree with the statement that the EU probably wouldn't let any kind of JD buyout of Valtra take place. Anyone know exactly where this rumour started?

To add to old dead rumors, in the early 60's there was a rumor around here that Massey was going to buy IH.

... and at one point JD planned to get it's hands on Versatile...
Why does everybody love to hate the great Deere? Where would agriculture be without them? Don't you know mr John Deere was the inventor of the molboard plough, the tractor, the internal combustion engine, the 3pt hitch, rubber tyres, articulated tractors, combines, rotary combines, pesticides, fertilizer, diesel, wheat and rain!
... it is true, my Guru promised!

Hey Laapa,
Me thinks you did go to the subterrainian dungeons of JD Saran for a booster of Green Cultism on your trip to France!! You probably might not remember it though!! Reprograming is usually that way,and burried deep in your subconcious mind!
Ohmmm......ohmmm......ohmmm........Solid........Stable.......blah,blah,blah.......

Hey Laapa,
You may have overdosed on green. There is a cure. Get in the cab of the 2+2 or behind the wheel of the Volvo-BM for a few days. If this condition continues let me know, I have more remedies.

Yes Valtra and Claas will be a perfect union. Colours of Valtra was a first aproach? John Deere needs Valtra? John Deere is quite well sold than don't need more fusions for grow and grow and grow. First is more logical than JD aproach a little more to Renault.

Hope the (JD cult) Irony is not lost on you guys...
Here's a thought... A while back Cat wanted Fendt pretty bad, if I remeber correctly it was made official by AGCO publicly turning cat's offer down. Also a Claas-Fendt merger was expected of a long while before AGCO ate Fendt. Apparently Cat thought Fendt technology would be a nice wheel tractor match to their Callenger Crawlers.
Also the Fendt-Claas merger would have happened, in Cat colors. On the US market Cat would controll both Vario, Challenger, and Lexion.
Now it seems the Fendt and Challengers will complement each other in AGCO. For a while we discussed on this board if there would be Fendt-green crawlertractors, Why not Challenger yellow Fendt-wheel tractors? I think they'd make a nicer complement than those Agco(Allis)-Challengers.
Another thought, do we know for fact the future fate of Lexion in America?

Hey Laapa,
At this time Cat dealers are still flogging them. I can not see that big new factory only building combines for Cat though, seems kinda inefficient!!
