Is anyone having problems with getting machinery they have bought from the companies on the dates they agree. We have bought a Taarup 4062 mower which was supposed to be in our yard on 20th April a month ago , yesterday we were told we would have to wait another two days. Our silage started two weeks ago.

Zetor buyers had to wait for a year in 2000, because of the production stop before the reorganisation.
Now, they make lots of them again.
That Taarup mower was probablyt more popular than Kverneland expected, so they didn't have enough production capacity.

As far as I understand many types of machinery are more popular this year than most of the manufacturers have expected. This is probably due to the lower sales last year as a result of the foot and mouth decease, the BSE and stuff like that. This year it seames as many farmers who didnĀ“t buy anything last year are trying to catch up, thus sales are rising and the longer delivery times. I think we will have to expect deliverytimes of around 6 months, at least for some tractormodels. F.ex. the MF 4300:s are really getting it on out there.

Yes, the local dealer (Valmet, Strautmann) didn't sell much last year, because of the Foot and Mouth Disease. He had a good year before, so it did'nt hurts his financials so bad.
exported second hand tractors were cleaner than ever before, every little mudspot was sprayed off with disinfecting liquid..

Does the disinfectant they used rust parts. In the ag college where i was peoples wheels started rusting and minis are bad enough without spraying something that is going to aid rust

Yes, the (we call it "Natron loog") desinfectans even makes your shoe bottoms turn white! Life expectance for shoes of salesmen decreased by 70% at that time..
Against rust: Spray tectyl or just paint asphalt on it. I did the same after the F&M disease, the cab of our 5245 was full of mud and hogsh*t.

I think the reason people are waiting for their new equipment is that most manufacturers are now adopting the build to order policy to some extent.
EG. take a Massy tractor of 100hp. I think they now decided that they will make 30 in a month. but the one you buy might be 31 which means your into next month sort of thing.
there doing this instead of dropping prices as their prodcution costs stop if there not making machinery as some workers just do a normal hourly working week.
i dont know whether what i have written is clear but i think you'll get the jist of it.

I've heard that a number of dealers are having trouble getting stock in from Europe at the moment.
RmarkV - we haven't had a dry day since the IAM demo in Kilkenny. It is reckoned that it'll be at least another 7 days before any silage gets cut in the South East.
Are you guys seeding the clouds or something?
ps: Saw the 4062 @ the IAM demo. Awesome machine. What are you putting under it?
