I was chatting to a rep from AGCO in Ireland last week, and he said that they were going to take a decision this week on selling the combine in Ireland and England for the 2003 season. Also Fendt are in the process of looking to buy a grass machinery compamy to expand their range.

I have heard rumors that Agco was interested in entering the self propelled forage harvester market.Don't know if they are looking to buy a company or just looking for a partner. Wonder what the price differences will be between the Fendt and MF combines, since they come from the same factory.
On a off topic note , anyone see the tractors at the Austrian Formula 1 race this weekend?

If Fendt buys a grass machinery line, will it be Stoll, Lely or Pottinger?? Lely is a Dutch brand, www.lely.com and their slogan is "from grass to glass" (glass of milk) They own also Welger balers, a German company in Wolfenbuttel Kuhn has ties with Deere, PZ/Vicon/Greenland wont be sold by Kverneland. I think Pottinger has the biggest chance

I was wondering Krone? The big x and big m2 have vairo drives and would have a full range of equitment on grass.
Kvernland have shelved the Red Bull for a year to concentrate on the tarrup 5090 30ft mower 5 are sold in Ireland and 2 4062 6m mowers

The Fendt-Krone rumor have surfaced on this board before. Could make sense I guess, unless they chose to stay independent. Hmmm... didn't there use to be a Krone-JohnDeere-connecton. Engine and cab on the big M if I remember corectly.
There used to be MF labeled Mengele SP foragers but I think they got dropped with the CaseIH-Mangele deal. Mammut foragers are sold as CIH last time I checked.
(I am humming to myself AC/DC's "Who Made Who")
Isn't there other grass products in the AGCO range to lable FENDT?
Also there used to be a strong Fendt-Claas relationship common dealers etc.) back in the days before Cat and ACGO. I know a lot of people were suprised by Fendt going to AGCO, thinking Claas would have bought it. Furthermore Cat were at one point trying to buy Fendt from AGCO.
Hey Renze, do you have any info on Lelys Multipower dual engine tractor prohect back in the '70s? It is featured in Peter D. Simspons Ultmate tractor Power vol. I.

Hey Laapa,
Hesston is pretty much what Agco possess in grassland equipment(if you can call it that)mainly hay oriented actually. Most of the New Idea stuff is just Hesston painted red.
As for what you guys consider grassland,Agco is sorely lacking in kit!!

Hey Laapa, I saw the Multidrive at the Lely distribution center back in the late 70's. They had it parked in the back lot, just saw it from a distance.
You have seen the ultimate 2+2, the 72/7488? Went to a field day back in 1984 and we got to drive them. I liked the way they drove, shame they weren't produced.

Claas was the under bidder for Fendt at the time AGCO bought the company. As for Claas from what I have heard from the Importers in Ireland is that Helmut Claas dosn't want to take on a tractor as the he says the company is a to concentrate on Harvesting machinery, he would possibly have taken on Fendt as being the best tractor out there but once that went there would be no other one to suit their line up.
As for the many Claas and Fendt dealers AGCO have to admitt they have shot themselves in the foot as if the would dump Class to sell a full Fendt line up of machinery.

Hey Kejnar. Sure I know the 7288/7488 Super 2+2 (actually called STS). I could start a big conversation on those but this has already drifted far enough from the original topic. Check out this site for more info on the last 2+2, maybe the greatest tractors never buildt. members.aol.com/Moderntractor/70series.html

Laapa,
The first time I ever read the name 'Lely' in a list of tractors, i was thinking it was a spell error.
The second time was on this forum, and i am ashame not to know them, being a Dutchman...
So, i cant help you.
To the rest of the people:
Hay equipment from Hesston for the American market is of no use in Europe, since we mow grass BEFORE its a feet high.
