Does anyone have experience with these russian beasts. It seems you can buy a 350 hp articulated machine for the price of a JD 8120! I know they are available in some european countries. Is the quality really as poor as the price suggests, or does a well built, no thrills, lo-tech machine not need to cost more? A machine like that could accopmlish great things on our farm, but I would like to be reliable on a service-place or dealer in my own timezone!

Hey Laapa,
Nice 2+2 logo there!!
I've seen a few over here. They seem to be about average for Belarus dependability from what I've been told. So I guess if you can live with the leaks, and do your own wrenching, then you could get by with one. Not sure how up to date with ergonomics they are though.

Ergonomics schmergonimics!!! I'll be in the 7710 with TLS suspension, and hire a tractordriver/mechanic to work on/drive the Beast when the novelty wears off! 8)

O.K. I talked to guy who used to have one. It was a 1790 from the early 90s. It was cheap, noisy and a bit outdated compared to what else was out there. All in all though he said that it got the job done, nothing fancy but it worked. Resale was next to non-existant when he retired from farming was only big complaint, besides normal Belarus leaks and wrenchings. But then again I do not think he payed all that much for it to start with !!

apologise for digging up old topics..
Did'nt they have a license built Caterpillar V6 or V8??
a local contractor has one. He likes to play with it pulling silage tippers out of extreme mud, but prefers Ursus, he has about 7 of them.

There once was some sort of a testdrive in profi, two or three years ago I think. I´ll try to find it. As far as I remember the engine was russian (License?) and had quite a displacement, som 11 to 12 litres. I think they now use some western components like engine, axles a.s.o.

OK I checked the profi net-archive and here´s what I found: Full test in issue 5/94 (OK so it was a little longer back than I thought) They call it "Sturdy and strong". 335 Hp. Then there´s supposed to be a couple of articles besides the test: "K 700 as SP-manurespreader" in 7/93, and "New articulated Kirovets" in 10/94. These issues should be laying around somewhere at home. If you´re interested Laapa it´s allright for you to borrow them. As far as I can tell we are not that far away from each other.

Thanks a lot HPP, but I think I can find the old issues at the library at Alnarp University of Agriculture. They have a very extensive archive. I think I'll stop by there one of these days.
Hmm, would that be English or German Profi?

All of those articles are in the original, german version. As far as complete archives go - I do miss two or three issues (borrowed them to friends who forgot about returning them) otherwise I have them all from the very first from november-89.

Hey Laapa, did you find what you were looking for concerning the Kirovets? I dug up an old catalogue of dlg-tests: Kirovets 701 M: Rated enginepower : 335 Hp, at 1800 rpm. Max engine power : 340 Hp Max PTO power : 299.7 HP Pretty massive engine : 17.241 ccm! V-8.
In the "Schlepperkatalog 2002" from top agrar/profi you´ll find the newer models K-744 A (250 Hp) and K-744 (350 Hp).
