About right £60,000, but Deere are desperate to sell combines new or used, so if its from a Deere they will drop their trousers so to speak Cheers Simon

Cheers guys,
Its for sale for £70,000 but I thought it was a bit high. £60,000 sounds about right to start with. Do either of you know whether its quite harsh on straw as one of our customers bales all his straw and he's a bit concerned about using a rotary machine.

O.K. now I'll agree that I'm totally out of my very narrow scope of knowledge here. But over here many people bale behind rotary combines (mostly CIH or Gleaner) and seem to like it better than what comes out the conventionals. Seems to be the biggest thing with the rotaries is in getting them set-up just right. As for the Deere CTS I know even less about that than other combines, which I know diddly about to begin with. Was it not developed as a "rice combine" to begin with?
Ahh.......Lee did you get into the green beer prior to St. Paddy's day? If so are you still hung over from it?
How much do the new Deeres sell for compared to the rest?

Rotary nowadays don't damage the straw anymore than a convetional combine, due to additional rotary separators etc. Cheers Simon.

Hey Lee,
Check MT over at @g-online about your "Baling behind a rotary" questions. They are discussing it presently. It is a couple of pages in.

Let me make that clearer: As convention combines now have rotary seperators etc. they smash the straw more whilst the rotarys now have been modified (different rotars etc.) for Northern European conditions. Lee Having spoken to someone who tried them all last year, the Deere does not like the damp at all the new New H porformed bettter, as did the Class (460) the only one worse was the MF (went well but doubled up as a drill!) A straw contractor near me reckons the Case Axle flow is the cheapest combine he has ever run, and wasn't at all bothered by the straw quality from it!, it may struggle on power compared to the very big combines, but having demoed it against the JD rotary, it is about the same capacity (the JD did a bit more in the heat of the day, but ths Case was better with a bit of damp)
Cheers Simon Che

Cheers for all the responce,
I think from all the feedback fromthis forum, fwi, profi etc there is no answer at all.
Everybody says different things! Some like JD, some like Claas, some like Case.
So I am none the wiser about which model to go for although I now am pretty confident that a rotary is not as harsh ont he straw as once thought.
And hey who would of thought it a JD being cheaper than another make! - Tell you what that means Woodbeef - Resisdual values of JD combines is nothing! Do I take away from that, that they are not very good!
Food for thought hey

Yep I am afraid its me. Supposed to be a secret but I am amazed at how many people know it was me.
Seen the readers letter in the back as well!
Still deciding about the combine at the moment. We could get somebody to do it with an STS!

Just returned from a visit in brazil. Vissited also factories (Valtra, CNH, JD, Agco) and farms. We've seen combines, working together: case axial is doing verygood buisness over there: The axialflow with his wider bord (8-10 rows) has a speed in the field, twice as much as the NH, and JD!! Some farmers can do with one Axial the work, three old combines did!!!
The Brazil-farmers are very modern farmers, they are doing very good work and we will hear much more of them, and also the factories will give many news next month! The JD gets new products for Brazile AND world, Valtra will update, CNH is very alive as a combination!! Keep watching!!
