Know somebody whats going on? FFF what series tractors are we talking about? The 6010's used a ZF transmission, I'm not sure about the 6020's and 6030's. If they still use ZF 'boxes are there problems from other manufacturers?

Here in the South of Europe, there is that rumour too.
The most of them in 6920...
I know 3 cases 1 go to a Fendt 716 and the other 2 go to 6830Autopower (all repairs without cost).
Here the sensation is if an Autopower gives you problems John Deere solves the problem, but a Vario problem you must pay for the new gearbox.

Yeah I know of a 6920S that has just over 4000hrs that has been nothing but trouble all the way from new. John Deere just recently replaced the transmission but the owner still had to front up with a heap of cash for the labour side of it. Every year at some point its been parked out of action.
There s obviously a lot of Autopower units around now surely they cant all be trouble though?

We have a 6920 S with autopowr and we have had it for a year now. The thing works brilliantly and has not given any gearbox bother but i have heard that it does give bother and is sent back to germany to be analyised once it has broken.
The CVT gearbox was invented by engineers at Fendt who came up with two gearboxes, one was the Vario and the other (poorer design of gearbox) was sold to ZF who supply JD, Case, NH etc.
This is the gearbox that we have in our tractor however JD is making their own CVT gearbox like they have in the bigger 8020 and 8030 series tractors.
this gearbox should be better but I don't think it will be as good as the vario

Hmmm do you actually believe those Fendt fairies '??
Steyr was on it before Fendt and did everything on their own, parallel but apart from Fendt. However Steyr was kinda slow, so Fendt had theirs to the market before Steyr.
I'm not 100% sure, but i believe ZF Eccon was introduced AFTER the takeover of Steyr antriebstechnik by ZF.
