in a breath taking switch of brand loyality, the likes of which are rarely seen, a friend of mine has a Case puma on demo. So does anyone know much about these machines? I have had a quick look on the Case website and the cab has hints of the original Ford 60 series/ Gemini tractors about it. Is it just those cab parts they have used out of the NH parts bin, or is it just a red version of a blue tractor?

hey adam, the puma does share a certain amount of common parts to the blue counter part, there are specs of diffentiation, super steer, that quick steer thingee etc
the new puma is a machine that seems to be a good tractor, it does look like they dived head first into the parts bin and bolted stuff up that fit. .....but did you really honestly expect anything else,
i think CIH is trying to standardise stuff in there line up, ie the new CVX has the MXU lid on the cab etc, the new CVX also has a MXU style dash i think, the 6.7 motor apears in the bulk of its mid range, the gearbox i think may have come from ford blood lines, and the CVX may dissapear in due course in favour of a puma CVT, but they have had a lot of time to get it right......or closer too right, i imagine if it wasn't for the fact farmers want to go faster on the road........the old caseIH powershift would still be in use
there are a few round here now, there is a 165 with autosteer stuff on it in the yard at the moment, looks a very decent tractor
i haven't driven one yet, but worked on one, looks like a nice machine, a lot more serviceable then the older machines

The word is that the Puma doesn't have the polished and refined feel of the tractor that it may well be replacing and it needs to be a couple of models bigger to handle the intended machine. However refined feel counts for little when it keeps going wrong.
