I wonder why North American beaters have a big diameter lower beater, and a way smaller upper beater ? In Europe i havent seen them other than with two the same diameter beaters.
I wonder because i'm putting a Krone auger type beater on my new Schuitemaker 4 ton spreader, to replace a bent paddle beater. I want a Schuitemaker oil bath drive, but i do want the benefit of being able to spread a bit wider than the bin width of the spreader. The Krone is 50cm and the Schuitemaker beater is 40cm.
Most American spreaders have a larger difference, like 30cm top and 50 or 60cm lower beater. Something you dont see in Europe. Why is that ?

The best spreader beater for long muck are vertical and about 70cm in diameter. Horizontal are best for chicken muck.
