O.K. now just how reliable are these tractors? Not many around here, more Leylands. Are they as good as the Leylands?

As i know marshall 804 is same as Leyland 804. Reliable level also same.As i know 804 have same transmission as 472,and 704 leylands, and more power. In heavy work is risk loose some parts from gearbox or after that....In our area was one 804 and the owner replaced it after some problems IH 845....

Marshall 804 is more reliable than Leyland 804. There is some technical improvements. For example hydraulic pump shaft splines were problem in yellow Leylands but not in Marshalls.

From what I heard, from experience, Marshall improved some niggles on the Leyland design. But overall the tractors weren't particulary reliable.

guy in decembers classic tractor liked his.........
big improvement over there ancestors........
woodbeef i have never driven one or seen one other than in books, but i wouldn't assume the reliability is the same as the ole 272 etc........
i think they had the 9x3 gear box in them, big improvement over the 10spd (nuffield style box with a spliter bolted in front of it)
