JH,i made also decision end of last year. I have now also Amazone, but only UF 1200. The reason why Amazone after Hardi(Hardi is good product) is price. And after one season work i'm satisfied. I think that base operation UG is near same, difference is size. FFF

I have 15 meter Q-booms.I suppose you have S booms. I'm satisfied also how booms are working.Comparing the old hardi (600 liter and 12 m) i colud drive faster,so that if tractor jumps, booms not.Suspension works. In my operation this solution save time quit a lot comparing old sprayer. Now i use 150 liter/hec water and tank is to times bigger, and working width bigger etc. I know that my operation is small scale comparing some contractor in Europe, maybe 2000 or more hectar with one big sprayer....but,anyway co-operation with others is how we try go forward. What size of boom are you using? Here in the UK the standard is now 24m and we are traveling at up to 16kph. The Amazone booms look as if they would flex and whip at the joints at these speeds?

David,i normally drive 7-10 km/hour.
16 sounds fast, but i think sprayer could survive.
Also i think we speak different size of fields, also here sometimes dust is problem if ground is very dry. Also in europe normally as i know you have 2-5 spraying same season. We use normally one, nowadays sometimes two.

I have read an article in 'Boerderij' about a guy who has 40 meter booms. He ordered his new one with 48 meter booms, so that he could spray between the ditches. (His land had water ditches every 50 meter) In holland, it is not allowed to spray over surface water, like in ditches. You have to stay about 1 meter away from the side of the ditch.

:o16Wow 16 kpm - thats fast, dont think any sprayer could cope with that in the potatofield We uses around 100-250 L/ha and the speed is often 7-10 km/h. Igo from 20 metres to 24, mainly because I get around 16/17% more work with the same speed for only 600-700 ukĀ£

FFF.
"16 sounds fast, but i think sprayer could survive".
I guess 12-14 kph is more the norm but if the weather is calm and with a rate governor on the sprayer 16 k is ok, often booms ride a little better if you travel faster, befor they have time to react to a bump its passed by.
Yes 5 times spraying over a field is not unusual in the UK and extra pases if spraying liquid N.

Maybe 5 times on one field in grain, but in starchpotatoes we often get around 8-13 times! In these fields you cant go much faster than 10 km/h, if you want to keep quality in the work. JH

My comment about 16 kph ,sprayer could survive, means that normally in our area this level of speed is also challenge for driver, because of smaller fields.I think that during turnings it's necessary drive with lower speed...or..
in Finland i think some kind starndard speed is near 7 kph, with older sprayers without any suspension.
