Something crossed my mind today (O.K. very briefly I do admit). We all know about the cabs on the 600 MF,and their rusting problems. So how do you explain the longevity of Fiat, and Landini sheetmetal?

Mornin Woodbeef
I'd say Fiat sheet metal lasts about the same as 600 series cabs. Sames were about the same:) I've seen many rotted Sames, worst was an '83 Taurus 60, by 1990 the bonnet, wings and whole cab structure was holed and it didn't live in sh*t. Fiats from the 70's and '80's similar ( won't say same - too confusing!) One dealer had a 1380 demonstrator with disappearing sun roof and paint lifting off the wheel rims. Great advert for the marque- they didn't sell many. We tried that tractor, went well but was not going to buy another Iti in a hurry, rust or not. Only got to try the Fiat cause the Hercules was in hospital again. But thats another story, he didn't get old enough to have a rust problem anyway;) Never seen an old Landini, maybe they just die young.

Hi guys,
Say isn't terra cota Italian for rust colored? ;D Just kidding.
It does seem to be more of a problem in Europe than here in the states. Recently looked at a '83 Fiat 880-5 and a '92 F110. No rust problems there. Think they do a better job of painting for the models coming our way?
Only seen one Landini (a Long R9500) here, didn't notice any problems with rust, but that has been awhile ago.

Recently I visited my dad´s small village in the mountains. One of the tractors is a Fiat 766 E, one of the first models painted in terracotta I think, so I guess that tractor is about 15 years old at least. No rust at all.
The village is placed in the north of Spain at 1000 m over the sea level. The weather is very cold, with a lot of snow in Autumn and Winter. In summer the temperature goes from 25/30° C with the daylight and 10/5°C by night. This Fiat sleeps on the street.
;D

Hi Woodbeef,
I was out of connection some days, my internet provider had some bugs.
I have also moved my domain name to anoher provider, so i can handle the forum scrips on my own server (Hallelujah, no more pop-up ads !!)
Well, you hear what they say about the other italians.
Personally, all same's which have been around in my area have fuzzy paint or rust holes. It's just a bad paint, it cant stand the sun, i think.
Hey Kenjar, werent those Long tractors repainted ?? ;D ;D
The brown Fiats got a better pain, i hink, because since the color change, there seem to be less rust problems.

Renze,
I don't know if Long repainted the tractors or not. I know Long went from red colors to blue at about the same time.
