Hey Kevanos
I hadn't thought about it that way. Good point. The Claas and JCB links are due to their french retail outlets having these franchises. No technical co operation. Anyone prove me wrong?
Forgot another take over. Alamo has purchased Faucheux (french loader manufacturer) and hope to get 25% of UK and Irish markets in 12 months. They are not widespreed at the moment, nor Bomford, another group member. How they going to do it?

Sorry, what's the relatioon between Renault and JCB?
I think, Renault is a good and strong company: Still indepent in this hectic machinery world! (maybe 'cause they're French....) The 200 hp tractors are marvelous!

I say watch out AGCO - if they stretch too far they themselves will be vulnerable, every fish has fish.

Can't see JD getting too much bigger in one go. They'd end up like CNH, having to sell off parts and so creating uncertainty and losing market share. They seem to prefer quite takeovers and even keeping the feeling of separation, look at Kemper, Timberjack, Cameco, Funk, Vapormatic.

Hey Woodbeef
Have you got any more info on your Renault rumour? Except Agco being on the prowl and Renault a 10000 a year producer what other evidence is there. I mean the Tractor business is part of a huge group that includes a fair chunk of Nissan so they've not a small fish. A big slice of Renault is state owned. French state owned companies are usually the sharks in other markets, ie water, power, telecom. So here's another proposition Renault are going to buy Agco:) I think I know who's bigger.

yeh they are in bed, but only just. I get the feeling the the green god's about to do a runner. the 3100, 3200, 3300, 3400, 3110, 3210, 3310, 3410 are all Renault built but it seems they are not available in many Euro markets now. Just UK, France and Germany I think. The Atles models, +200hp didn't get DPS engines, is this because they are not produced in France? The green god jumped into a number of joint ventures in the 90's, Woods, Renault, Krone, Zetor, Carraro, Goldini and most have lapsed/dropped due to a variety of reasons, mostly quality I believe. When the 5*20's get going in Mannheim why continue with the Renault sourced ones. The only place they are marketed as French built is France, so let them have them, no extra costs and few patriotic sales. Everyone else gets the Deere dsigned and built product.

Hey Fred,
State owned companies get split up every day in this world. I bet if Agco made a sweet enough offer, you'd see Renault Agriculture sold off. But with certain stipulations of course, mainly that Renault continue to manufacture tractors in France. Which Agco could easily comply with!!
All I know is that this a very credible source, that told me this info.
