Why vote for something you could never afford, or you dont even have application for??
MANY people voted for exotic CATs, quadtracks and the such. 98% of the (world's) farmers will never be able drive one, let alone buy one!!
The amount of Deeres and Fendts is also overwhelming.
please be realistic.
(if only board members could vote, the results would be a lot more realistic, i think)

hmm.....i guess not to many have been round a quadtrac...... we have one, its the farms second one, the first one was a early one with smaller axles (one of the first) the quadtrac is the best tractor i have ever operated, that machine in cultivation is absalutely unreal, driving over the field is like being on a crusie ship in a big ocean somewhere, i am a board member, maybe the only one who works with a quadtrac admitatly it ain't the new STX, but it beats the pants off driving our JD9400 i guess if you want to be realistic you have to refine what you consider the tractor of the year?....ie hp range, purpose food for thought laters pudding

Hey Pudding, i agree.
An independent jury will always define how they will look at their subjects.
..Maybe our admin should sub-categorize them, low/middle/heavy/4wd&tracks class, hightech, low-budget and so on.
Anyone has more categories in mind??

catergorys would be nice, but i don't think my opinion is anylonger valid, based on my choices, and i know woodbeef would be upset!
large/4wd = quadtrac
large/ rowcrop = mx270 (we have 4, best machine i have driven for a long time)
small/rowcrop = JXu case series,.....sorry never used one, but father has a L75 fiat and have run a 8160NH a lot, coming from a gene pole like that, it cannot be bad
sorry all read.........i am still a non bias machinery man....lol......serious

Hey Pudding,
have you heard of that British pair, She couldn't get pregnant, and got an IVF treatment. (no, not Infinite Variable Frankenstein, but In Vitro Fertilisation, litterally translated it's "fertilisation in a bottle" )
But anyway, that white british couple got a brown child !!
...Never rely solely on a gene pole:
My brother's boss did that too, relying on a gene pole. And has been very disappointed about the 411 Fendt. Damn he wished he had his old 611 back a dozen times !!

Renze,
I could not agree more. I remember 12 months ago I posted the same thing when last years vote was going on.
Also how can you vote for a machine thats only just been released such as the JD 20 series. There is no way it can be voted tractor of the year purely because it not been used for long enough to prove itself.
These so called Judges sit on it for an hour or 2 and then give an opinion which is complete rubbish.
Once they have completed 1000 acres, then come and talk to me about whether its worth the tractor of the year prize.
I am voting for both our Case 5150's because they have done another year without hassle! Following close behind is our new addition a 2 year old Challenger 75e. The design has been around for 15+ years and its also proved itself.

i guess ya right on the 1000 acres at least thing leem
that means i can't say the JXu is worthly of the title for the smaller tractors, but i then can vouch for the ford 60 series ( i have driven 81,82,83,8560,TM125 for a contractor)........know them too well and done my share of seat time on the L75
the other big machines, believe me, those opinions are well founded on experience!........
renze, i know you cannot compare between models etc, even though we know most are common components!.....
but i am sure the new CNH models ain't no brown childs?!
lol........this farm i am on, i am suprised people on the web don't think i lie abit, we were talking about it at work today, but have you ever worked on a place where the craziest stuff has been done.....
hell we have a 24row caseih corn planter, apparently only 3 was built (well very few)......we have a prototype it was that new.....now it has been converted to variable planting rate machine, sounz crazy huh, that is something manufacturers don't doo.......before we converted it, the farm brought a 4960 4wd to pull it, it wouldn't do it and run the hydraulic pump, and tow a 1000gall liquid tank, so what did we do?.....wieght it, and open the fuel pump......not the first time we did that, we had a 4850 opened to 300hp for some reason, and a 185-65 JCB putting out 250hp on duals (we had the first JCB Ag dealership in USA.....we still have a 1994 185, posibly the first or second ever sold)
lol....our stieger 9170 has floater tires off the farms monster truck?! serious, we had a racing team.......called TNT......owned with other investers.....we also had a race tractor
the farms owns a country club, and 18hole golf course, and houseing development (luxury suburb)
anyways, laters
