We all now know what the situation is with AGCO taking over the Challenger brand and the rights and manufacturing facility for the MT 700 & 800 series.
What of Claas, who have worked so hard to establish the brand in the UK, Germany and Italy. Possible scenarios:
1. Claas buy the rights to the existing 55 series and have them produced at Winnepeg??
2. Claas do a similar thing with the E series - again both units tried and trusted and can undercut ACGO.
3. Claas join up with some other manufacturer.??
Who has got ideas??

As for as I know, all contacts between Claas and Cat are broken. In the States, Cat-dealers will do (Agco hopes) more sales in agricultural machinery: the Challenger-line. In Western Europe, just the 700&800 tracked Challengers will be sold by Fendt or MF-dealers. We have in the Fendt, and MF (and more) balers, combines, tractors etc.; the Challengers (MF with other engine) wound give Agco much more sales. (as far I understoot..... )

Hi Tellarian, I don't think Claas could get an agreement with Cat to do produce the 55 series at Winnipeg or the E series either. Agco would not allow it. We have talked before about Claas trying to get into the tractor market. There have been several oportunities for them to do so the past few years. They could have bought Deutz-Fahr, Steyr or Fendt. I am not all that sure they are in any big hurry to do so. Just my observation.

Hi Guys,
if You take a look at the european market, You will see, that Claas is as big as it shines. The only Problem: They have o Tractors. In the 50' there was a Claas Tractor which You can change into a Combine. It was followed by the Xerion in the 90'. They sold the Challenger, therefor Cat sold the Claas Combines under CAT-brand. Overtake Claas by AGCO? You must be joking. This bite is to heavy for them, I believe.

Claas and Buhler baby!!! That would be an ideal marriage, and it would be the same products that the Caterpillar brand offered - the high hp market.
The only problem would be the absense of tracks.
