I believe that if to use a engine with good reputation to gain sale. like: John deere, deutz, caterpillar, cummins.

The agmachinery news page says it will have a cummins and a Funk, probably assembled by Buhler.
but did the Genesis always had a Funk tranny, or just the new McCormick??
But, will CNH allow them to use a Cummins? I thought one of the contract quotes said that they should use another engine than the Cummins what Case used. But maybe that's just for the continued Case series, and not for newly developed series.
And Jose: I think using a deere or Deutz engine will be strategically a bad move. The Magnum also had a Cummins, so that's the best thing to do if they want to reach Case customers.

hey Renze,
The Genesis series always had the Funk, matter of fact I think the 30 series did too.
Hey Jose,
The engine is a Ford design, from Basildon. Yes,Deere does own Funk.

Hi guys,
They will probably go with Cummins, Buhler uses it in their Versatile line. CNH will most likely be phasing out the 7.5L engine when they replace the TM and MXM models.

You're right, Kenjar.
CNH will develope a new engine, they said, a co-operation from Iveco, Cummins and Steyr. (steyr has some pretty good engineers there in St. Valentin, but no engine production facilities....

Renze, CNH can't forbid Mc Cormick to use Cummins. Cummins is a separate factory. The engine in the Maxxum and Magnum is developed by Case and Cummins, after it was finished, both could use and change it like they want. So CNH has not to say what Cummins must do with that engine. The new engine of CNH is a cooperation between New Holland - Iveco (are different company's) and Cummins. There gone be 4 and 6 cyl. models. Maybe the new TS gone have them ??

As Bart V D says the Maxxum engine was made by a Case / Cimmons venture, called CDC (Consilidated Diesel Corporation), they were used by other manufacturers as well (JCB for instance Cheers Simon

Iveco is also a doughter company of Fiat Group, just like CNH. So in my opinion, they arent as different as you say.
So, they Steyr engine engineers just have to sit on their butt the coming years? or are they working for others like Sisu, Benz and BMW??

Iveco is a daughter company of Fiat, but not an agricultural company, so I think they have completely separate engineering desks. And does Steyr make engines ?

Hey Bart, Steyr used to make their own. Very good ones too, well known for quietness, and low fuel consumption. From what I understand they just did not make enough of them to stay competetive. The models now made by Sisu Diesel (20 series) www.sisudiesel.com were jointly developed by Valmet and Steyr.
