who else gets these ford based 'economy' tractors, i see NZ gets the fiat based models still......north america gets these machines to see the blue fiats NZ gets check this out www.norwood.co.nzi have two brochures of these machines the 7010 and 8010 and 8010HC these machines seem to be very adequate with the backend hydraulics giving a flow of 65 litres, and the power steering is on a separate circuit. where as the new holland L/35 gave 55litres, and a total flow is 76litres (incl power steering circuit) the transmison is either a 8x2 or 16x4, (is this the good old style gearbox found in the 6600? and 5000? also the 8010 is the 7.5 litre 6 cylinder motor in it! i am interested, because this would suit my father on his farm, 6cylinder, no cab, good hydaulic flow for his wagon, the only problem is its painted blue, he has a complex about blue tractors....for some reason also the fiat range currently available in NZ is either a tad too small or has a cab (big nono for dad....you can't clean them with a hose) the gearbox if it is the old style box, is not a fancy shuttle, but a very robust gearbox, which believe me, you can drive it like a shuttle....... laters pudding

I have not seen any of the Fiat econos advertised up here since before the merger. Mostly they are pushing the 10s series of the Fords made in Mexico.

Hey Pudding:
The reason i like Zetor, is that they come standard with an air compressor: So that you can always clean the cab with a hose ;D
By the way: I am not that fond of those 16/4 trannies in the 6700: If i want to work out my biceps, i would go to the sporting club. The dual power flipper pedal isn't my favourite either, but still better than the button on the 7710. My favourite Ford is the 6610. Shifts much smoother, dual power swithch is nice, and you can see more than just the oversized nose.
Do those 10 series smoke as the previous 10 series?

i have never seen a 6700 before, they are a platform tractor like the 7700?......ok, i dislike them too!
i liked the 6600 for loader work cause the gear shifter was between you legs, we had two when i worked for a contractor, they were crude and cheap, but fast enough to keep up with the two tube wrapers we fed with them. one tube we made had 500 meduim square bales in it, all done with a ford 6600, secret as my boss explained is, run with the throttle half way open, and don't drive with ya foot on the clutch, its either in or out, and when the clutch is in your foot is on the brake too, helping to stop the transmission from moving.....the only problem was they couldn't lift two bales comfortably, other wise we would stacked them in the tube wraper!
i guess the new ones drink, i would like to see one and try one out!

The contractor i worked for had some Fords, the 6610 generation II was my favourite, the 8210 and 7710 needed a very strong right hand for changing gears, and the 7840 and 8240 were just SH*T.
A guy at my work says his 6710 has a heavier tranny than the 6610, and is about 20 cm longer. Maybe the 6700 too. I think the heavier trannies were those biceps trainers, because the 6610 shifts good.

The Ford _700 series were more of a luxury type of tractor compared to the _600 series. Longer wheelbase, higher off the ground, different tranny options, nicer cab,etc... By the mid 80s over here only the 7710 had survived into seriesII.

yes the 7010 and 8010 are the old reliable 8x2 or 16x4 gearboxes no shuttle available, the 8010 has the 7.5 engine and the 7010 has 5.0 litre turbo. As far as the 700 series fords the where sold at the same time as the 600 series the difference 600 where utility version and 700 where the row-crop tractors they had the same style cab the but the 600 series had a strattle mount floor over the tranny , when the came out withe 10 series - 2 models even the 610 series had a flat deck in the cab. I don't know what woodbeef is talking about all the ford line -up made it to N. America as a 2 series the 3 series never came to N. America though.

Ahh Curt....
You might want to go back and check, but I do believe that the 6710 never made it to being a black stripe(seriesII)in North America.

The early model 6600 and 7600 were available with the flat deck or row crop platform also. The _700 versions replaced them about a year later. These rowcrop types started with the 4000 and 5000. When the 7000 came along it was offered the same way. The 6710 ended when the Ford II models were introduced. The forerunners to the 10S were the 5900 and 5610 Special. I beleive both were built in Mexico, also.

Hey Kenjar,
Was there not also a 5200 econo model offered previous to the 5900?

Hey Woodbeef, Not aware of an econo 5200, however the 5000 row crop models were actually 5200s. Ford just called them 5000s.
