It has been around three years since TaylorMade introduced its R9 and R9 TP Irons. In the rapid development of golf industry, three years of time don't fade away the cahrm of R9 and R9 TP Irons but make them still in the populer line.
Like the company's Burner 09 irons, the long and mid TaylorMade R9 irons(http://www.golfgreatsale.com/discount-TaylorMade-R9-Irons-US-Model-sale-861.html) were designed separately from the short irons. The R9 irons are aimed at mid-high handicappers looking for a bit more forgiveness but without looking down at a chunky, ugly lump of metal. The long and the mid clubs are easier to hit and more forgiving, while the shorter ones make scoring the name of the game.
And in the cheapest R9 Irons, TaylorMade also show off their new Velocity Control Chamber in the 3-iron to 6-iron. This technology is positioned behind the clubface and helps the golfer to launch the ball higher and powerfully. They feature a unique foam-filled cavity back which dampens vibrations on off-centre hits while still allowing good feedback when the ball is hit from the sweet spot.
The TaylorMade R9 TP irons
The R9 TP Irons come with variable progressive face thickness, a standout design feature. As the irons get shorter, the face gets slightly thicker. The 2-5 irons have a face that is 2mm thick, whereas by the time we get to the 8-iron, 9-iron, and PW, the face is up to 2.5mm. Because this results in a progressively higher center of gravity in the mid and long irons, and adds to the great feel in the short irons. The Inverted Cone Technology is again utilized throughout the entire set to provide consistent distance from off-center contact.
Velocity Control Chamber which placed an enclosed compartment behind the clubface allows a large area of the face to be unsupported. This increased COR to help with distance while the Chamber¡¯s foam filling offers great sound and feel at impact. The Velocity Control Chamber also allows the weight to redistributed to give the TaylorMade R9 TP Irons an exceptionally low centre of gravity and high moment of inertia which helps you launch them high and long.
The TaylorMade R9 TP irons are smaller, thinner, sleeker versions aimed at the better player who wants to work the ball, control the flight but still retain an element of forgiveness. TaylorMade also has the unenviable job of carrying on the sterling work of the R9 driver and fairway wood, which have both proved extremely popular since their launch.
