Seeing the news on the main page what do people think of the fendt name being added to a wide range of products from Agco. OK the combines and balers could be higher spec than MF, Hesston etc but I thought the main point with Fendt historically was the aledged supperior build quality and hense reliability. It seems North American farmers are often wed to a fixed colour and this is why Agco are going full-line with Fendt, In Europe you don't see many fams all the same colour, I know they exist though. Could all of this not end in tears for Fendt and it's traditional customers? Also if Agco chop and change names and products as they have over the time of their existence how long until Fendt production migrates from Marktoberdorf to Beavais

I would think that badging versions of Hesston balers in other names would be to get product in more dealerships and increase sales. Now that CIH no longer sells them, they're also sold under New Idea name here also. Seems like all is changing in the business. Agco is using what they can to improve market share as are the competition.

Atually I think the idea that US farmers stick to one brand is a myth, or at least not more true there than any where else. I read the result of a survey a couple of years back and it showed 80% of the people who owned JD and CIH also owned CIH and JD. (Did that make sense? 80 percent of people who owned either brand also had at least one tractor of "the other" brand).
