Renze.
Good question, I´ve no idea. But afaik the Ceres Gearbox is not a GIMA product. Gima produces at Beauvais the Gearboxes for the MF 6200 and 8200 Serie and for Renault Ares and Atles. The 24/24 Powershuttle Gearbox works well and without failures so why change a running system? maybe relocate the production from Bannerlane to Beuavais. Could be possible this Gearbox will be mounted to a Renault typ in future .... but this is just guessing.

If the Banner Lane production line is outdated and inefficient, why relocate the production line?
I agree, the 24/24 MF gearbox is much nicer than the Ceres one, but in that case, i think they set up the MF production line at GIMA in a modernised form.

The thoughts about the future of the 4300 series are very interesting, and there are certainly some possibilites. But here is what I know:
MF is going to introduce a range of 40-85hp compact-type tractors from a venture with a partner, as yet unknown. Of more interest is that production of the current 4300 series axle and transmission will cease in mid-2003. That we do know from the announcement of the plant closure.
But AGCO have stated that the the 'new' range of French-built tractors will have a GIMA axle and transmission. This would lead us to believe that basically there will not be much of the old 4300 series left. After all, the gearbox had several parts recogniseable from some time ago. So what for the future? Will be see a 4400 series, or maybe, will we see a joint venture with Renault perhaps? Word has it that AGCO uis looking to buy again, another major. It already has a close association with Renault, so who knows....
Any other thoughts. Observer

If the 4300 gearbox is built by Gima it will be a Gima gearbox? so allthey will do is use the Gima machine tools to produce the 4300 gearbox? Cheers Simon

Hey Agmachinery Observer, these compact-tractor models you´re talking about, wouldn´t that be the 3300:s that we already know of, built in Treviglio by Same?

I should of renamed this thread More Agco stuff! It appears this topic has got hold of all of you.
As an English resisdent about 15 miles from coventry - the closure was not a surprize. Nobody buys MF any more. The technology is miles behind anybody else. They have had to start to copy Fendt.

They have! The joystick for the hydraulic valves is the same in the 6200/8200 as in the Vario. Well at least it´s a start! Hey Lee, when you say "nobody buys them anymore" are you then talking about just around Coventry? Someone must do, as I see it. The 4335 I sold last week is supposed to be delivered in october at the earliest.

If you compare the 4300 series to High Tech Tractors you´re right. But this serie is build for farmers who do not want this high tech stuff. It is low spec serie with almost everything you need but not more. Who wants tractors with almost everything onboard has to go for 6200 or 8200 series. Those series are not miles behind. In fact they offer systems and possibilties other brands never ever had in their mind. Just look at datatronic, Dual Control and TIC. Who can offer something like that? QuadLink, Autodrive, Powershuttle with Powercontrol and SMS working with Datatronic are Systems some Brands can offer also in little different versions but there are still a lot of Brands who can´t offer something like that. If you just mentioned vario or stepless transmissions , ok MF is working on it and it will be avaiable in future, but is this the only thing that counts to be a modern tractor? (Just wondering: How did we manage to sell 15 new MF tractors this year if nobody buys them anymore? 9 Mf 6200 or 8200 series and 6 MF 4300 series)

Hey Agmachinery Observer,
Could Massey be doing as the others and building these new ones in Turkey? It seems to be the hotbed of tractor manufacturing lately!
Or could Massey be looking to Korea or China? Could be Iseki also.

Woodbeef, I don't know about Turkey. We had the Uzel built 200 series for a couple years. They were replaced by the 200X and XE from Brazil. The new 400's come from there as well. I really don't know why they switched scources, maybe they can build them at a lower cost in Brazil. Iseki? Very possible. How about SDF?
Friedhelm, do you know if Gima is going to build the same transaxles that are currently available for the 4300? I would think this would be a good time to go with an inboard planetary setup. The current outboard planetary axle has been around since the MF 65. You mentioned selling 15 new tractors, are sales better this year than last. I see you have signed up as a new member. Welcome!
Lee, I guess we are in an Agco mood. Kind of sad though, no more Ferguson's coming from Coventry.

Thanks Kenjar. Looks ineteresting here and so why not sign up?
No idea what will be build at Gima for the 4300. IMO nobody knows this already. Everything mentioned in the other threads could be possible so we will see what will happen. Sales are going better the last 2 years. In 2000 it was a really bad year in common. This year is topping last year untill now and hpefully this carries on.
