What is the difference between a Zetor 7745 and a 7340?
Were there any major upgrades on the later ones, besides the lights in the cab roof?
Which one is a better tractor, and why?
I've checked out the 8540,but find it has way too much hood. So I'm looking at the 7000 series now. Looking for a low cost loader tractor with air conditioning.

Woodbeef, The 7340 will have about 10 more horsepower than the standard 7745. A turbo was optional on the 7745. On the 7340 you can opt for the shuttle trans which would be a nice feature on a loader tractor. The 7340 also has more 3point lift capacity and the cabs look a little different. I haven't seen any of the B series here yet, but on the photos they have the Super series type hoods. I don't know if the B's are available with the cab though. Renze, will probably have more to comment. He is the resident Zetor expert on this board.

Hey Kenjar,
Oooppps ........you're right I meant the 6340 vs. the 7745.
We could get the shuttle in the 45s up here though.

Hey Woodbeef, I do that alot, speak before you think. Have you seen many 45's with turbo's in your area? Not sure if the shuttle was available here. The 8540 would do well with the loader,it's got that extra weight and horsepower. The 7341 or 6341 are nice. UR1's in their Sunday best. I like the interior of their cabs. A little more pricy than the 40's. Renze, will be happy if you get a Zetor. Nothing wrong with the UR1 range, hey they have sold over a million of them. Must be doing something right.

Woodbeef:
The 7340 and 6340 have the carraro front axle instead of the Zetor built axle. (since around 1996?)The Carraro has a smaller turning radius.
I advice you to go for the 6340. The 7745 has the old drum brakes with too little capacity, a known weakness of these tractors. The 6340 is practically the same, but has the new disc brakes, new fully hydraulic power steering, the oil pump mounted on the engine ditribution drive instead of on the PTO (makes oil pump independent of PTO clutch) The 3 series also has a new improved clutch, and i think the clutch and brake master cylinders are of better quality.
With the 3 series, all problems with master cylinders, water pump and brakes have been solved.
The UR1 range is, i think, a little more reliable than the early UR3's. The UR1 is proven since 1960, the UR3 since 1991.
The 8540 will weigh about 3,800 kg. the 6340 about 3,500. The main advance of the UR3 is some extra engine torque and the 3sp powershift
The B series, in Europe named as UR1 "Major" models, are basically the same as the old 3 series, but have a different nose. The cab is the same.
I think both shuttle shift and airco are option on both tractors.
The 6340 may have been sold first with the 3.6 litre 110mm stroke, and later with the 120mm stroke 3.9 litre engine, like the 7745 and 7340 have.

Hey Kenjar,
I've seen a few of the un-normally aspirated ones around.
The Super's cab is too short on leg room I find. Which is why I'm looking to replace my Steyr to begin with!Too bad really because I like the look of the Super.
Renze,
Thanks that is the info I was looking for. I can find clean low hour 7745s for $10-15,000 CDN,and 40s for around $20,000CDN or so. So I'll look for the 6340/7340 then.
