The Mizuno MP-59 Irons, next iconic Mizuno Muscle Back iron, was created by blending our PGA Tour Staff input with the latest state of the art design and simulation tools. This golf clubs au is the perfect balance of Grain Flow Forged feel and unmatched workability. In addition to the quality and performance, I like the fact that Mizuno relies on their high quality and not marketing gimics to promote their products.
These feel outstanding, not as great as the Mizuno MP-69 Irons but these also came with DEMO Grips which feel paper thin and rock hard. With the MP59's and even after a tough round, my hands never hurt and my elbows and shoulders feel great despite being almost 10 years older. The MP59's are fine crafted and expert engineered tools and do exactly as asked.
They are buttery and pure when struck solid and provide feedback when mishit. They certainly don't hide swing deficiencies but they don't sting when mishit. The feel of a well hit shot is priceless and addicting. The Mizuno MP-59 irons are fashioned from a soft-alloy which feel wonderful and buttery but do easily nick and show bag-chatter almost immediately. The soft metal is just another sign that Mizuno was uncompromising in the design and chose the alloy to promote playability and not durability.
My game has evolved by leaps and bounds since I started playing with them. It is almost impossible not to shape shots with them and easily hit fades, draws and straight shots. Because they react so precisely to your swing, I find myself becoming a more precise golfer; having to both thing and swing with purpose. Distance and trajectory are both consistent and controllable and my knock-down shot is back which was almost impossible to the R9 irons.
During the elaborate Grain Flow Forging process, the pure Titanium material is forged into the muscle of the MP-59 to deliver a 5% larger Sweet Area compared to the Mizuno MP-58 Irons, the iron that debuted Ti Muscle Technology. The lightweight characteristics of the pure titanium allows for the ideal amount of thickness behind the impact area to deliver consistent solid feel while simultaneously providing a dramatic increase in perimeter weighting for enhanced playability.
The MP-59 takes the multi material concept further than its award wining predecessor (MP-58). With its Ti weight more central to the clubhead the Mizuno MP-59 Irons creates even greater stability from off centre strikes. This increased stability allows for less offset to be used, improving the irons look at address. The thicker material behind impact ensures that centre strikes are rewarded with a solid impact. The MP-59's centre of gravity also remains close to the clubface - allowing ball strikers to produce controlled draws and fades.
