The 913 D2 and D3 drivers are the latest in the line of Titleist equipment, further refining all that the 910 did right and improving on the soft spots with a hotter australia golf clubs and more consistent launch characteristics between the two drivers.
The 913 D2 and D3 remain in a tie atop the heap of adjustable drivers with offerings from other companies, solid adjustability, classic and refined looks, and nice sound, feel, performance, and confidence. The Titleist 913 D2 Driver comes in with a full (i.e. rounder) pear-shaped, 460cc head for more forgiveness, while the D3 is a slightly smaller, 445cc traditional pear shape offering more workability to the better golfer.
Compared to the D2, the D3 is for better quality players who prefer the ability to work the ball over some added forgiveness. The shafts tended to produce to low of a ball flight overall than the D2. The driver itself is designed this way, so better players looking to get more height on their tee-shots may want to steer clear of the D3, or get a shaft combo with a really low kick point.
The big upgrade compared to Titleist 910 D3 Driver will primarily be in the hotter new face insert which has been re-designed to provide more flexibility around the perimeter to increase ballspeed. The new face insert is 2 grams lighter, and designers will move that weight lower in the clubhead. Simply put, it is faster over a larger area.
The Titleist 913 D3 Driver does not offer the forgiveness of the D2. It is much easier to spray the ball left or right. Many of the misses with the D3 were low and left with a right to left ball flight. Personally, I found the D2 produced a higher trajectory, more forgiving and longer than the D3. However, some will enjoy the ability to work the ball and prefer the D3.
