Hey folks, I have been digging in old photos, and found a photo of our 41 hp John Deere. We sold it when i was 4 years old, and i dont know what model it was. i only remember that it had 41 hp and probably an 8 speed tranny. Could anyone tell me what model it was?? pub31.bravenet.com/photocenter/view.php?img=25514&usernum=2643203945 When i was 1 year old, in 1984, it burnt our shed down, due to an electrical failure. We had it be fixed, but the 5.5 m3 manure tank was too much for it. We had our first Zetor 5718 (with narrow cab) in 1986 or so. It was a totally different tractor, twice as heavy, and MUCH more power. Thanks, Renze

Just checked my John Deere historical book. There were a 300 and 500 introduced in 1960. They had a 10 speed gearbox and 4 cylinder engines. The horsepower was listed as 28 and 36hp though this is probably in American ratings of power take off horsepower so European HP would be a little more. It could be a 500. Early models, it said, had full fenders, engine cover, and sprung axle. The 700 had 50 hp and the 100 had18 hp (1962). A few years later there were tractors built in France and Spain too: 303, 303V and 505. The 303 had 37 hp and 505 44 hp. Spanish and French tractors had Standard-Triumph and Perkins engines, shell fenders and no engine screens. Horsepower is often shown with the number followed by PS. A later 510 was listed as 40PS.

Woodbeef - Are you running Netscape or Opera?? Perhaps you should change your MS IE settings.
Red Painter: So it must be a 500 or 510 ?

Hey Renze,
I'm running Internet Exploiter 6. Tried NS but it was a pain. Everywhere else I go I can get the pics to work.

Hey Woodbeef, Hope you get the problem solved, Renze has some good stuff at his site.
I would agree with Red_Painter it looks like a 300-500 model. My brother has my Deere books so I am not sure which model exactly.

From the limited info I have in my John Deere historical books, it looks like a 500 or 510. That's my guess. It said that later tractors had shell fenders instead of the full covering fenders. If I find anymore info I'll post it.

O.K. now the emailing of the picture worked!! I'm going with Red_Painter,and Kenjar on this one.
I'd say either a 500,or 510,because the 700 and 710 had over 50 hp. From what I can find the 500 was 36hp in Europe and had a 10/3 tranny.
