Perfect for golfers who struggle with confidence, this Ping G15 Fairway Wood has an elongated, low profile design, giving mid-high handicap golfers maximum forgiveness, and an external weight pad for a higher discount golf clubs ball launch and utmost distance. The G15 very easy to hit, which gets the ball in the air easily, looks great at setup, very forgiving, very long, and makes the perfect "ping" sound when you hit it flush.
A Ping Golf TFC 149F graphite shaft has been engineered with lightweight materials to increase clubhead speed for utmost distance on the golf course, while also delivering optimal launch conditions for superb consistency, control and feel. But the Ping K15 Fairway Wood is superior off the tee, IMO. I prefer the larger head size of the K at address off the tee; I've compared the K's to a cross between the original Rapture FW's and the G15's.
Ping launched the new K15 Fairway Wood to accompany the Ping K15 Irons, hybrids and driver. With the G15 fairway already on the market the K15 would seemed to be aimed at the higher handicapper who might not want to pay such a premium. On the other hand you get what you pay for and with the K15 you get a cracker.
The G15 and the K15 have a lot of overlap in terms of performance. The G15s are more workable, but even those really want to just go straight. The k15 is stupid easy to hit off the turf, but the G15s are strong in that area also. It is great off the tee too and more draw biased than the g15 but not a hook machine by any means. You can still fade the k15. The K15s are so solid off of the deck for almost all golfers that I think the solid hit adds to the distance.
I couldn't say which is longer as I haven't hit them side by side. The K15s are more consistent! If I was looking solely for distance, the Callaway FTIZs are much longer. I played the cheap Ping G15 Fairway Wood for quite a while with the Serrano shaft. Very good distance and forgiving. It hit the ball too high for my taste even if it had 3 wood distance. The K15 is definitely more forgiving and straighter. For me, it hits on a noticably flatter trajectory. I get much better distance with it than the G15 wood. They are both stupid easy to hit.
The flight by K15 Fairway Wood is a little bit higher than that offered by G15 fairway wood, but not much and as long as you are not playing in windy conditions. The SF Tec (Straight Flight Technology) ¡®bulge¡¯ on the heel side of the sole is subtle and helps to turn the club over at impact to reduce the likelihood of a fade. Overall, Ping K15 Fairway Wood is a great wood for high handicappers, but it is also suitable for golfers of mid-handicaps.
