Hey guys, You have brought some good points on this subject.
It appears that Renault is doing what others have done in the past, out sourcing components. They are not alone, Agco is doing it too. Landini and McCormick are buying engines as well. To a certain extent all the companies buy components from different scources. I cannot think of one company that builds everything in house.
I guess it is up to each individual to determine if this is the way to do things or not.
By the way does anyone know why Renault switched from MWM engines to Deere? I would have thought they would of looked else where for a supplier instead of a competitor. Maybe Deere gave them a better price.

Hey Kenjar,
From what I understand MWM motors are going the way of the dinos. Deutz owns them,and is pushing their own ideas.
As for the DPS connection,Renault does make the badge-engineered Deere 3000 series. So I wonder if it is not just a type of trade going on there.

I was wondering why the JD 3000 series looked different. No wonder we don't have them here. Renault and Deere may have a joint venture thing going on.
Are the newer Deutz watercooled engines based on the MWM designs? I was thinking they might be, since they were introduced around the same time MWM was purchased.
I am glad to see that the Renault tractor is regarded as being equal to the top 3. I guess their products are better than the LeCar they sent us in the 80's.
Hey race fans, Renault did pick up a point at todays Canadian race. Jarno came in sixth.

Not quite sure, but I think that the new Deutz engine is a mix between MWM and Deutz engine technology. At least I consider the new Deutz engine as, in some way, a modern development of the MWM. Speaking about using the same components as competitors: In the time where Fendt and Renault used "the same engine" I used to compare technical data and testresults of the two, even if we didnĀ“t have Renault in Sweden at that time. The interesting thing was that Renault allways had around 10 to 25 % higher fuelconsumption. There are allways more to tractor economy and tractor efficiency than just one component. Even if it might be such a heavy component as the engine.

As Woodbeef said it is not a coincidence that Renault begun to sell the Ceres-3000 Series of tractors to John Deere when the Ares range was launched with Deere engines. More cost reasons: as far as I know Deere Power Systems have a factory in Usine de Saran, France. MWM engines were great on the old Renaults (S and T Series)

You're talking sh*t. it is impossible that Renault uses 10 - 25% more fuel. you must mean 1 - 2.5%, or 2.5 - 10%
The Renaults had the MWM with Lucas/CAV injection pump. The Fendt with Bosch. Just the brand of fuel pump doesn't make that difference in fuel consumption. But what does make a difference, is that the Renaults are 'galopping' in rpm when on low rpm driving without load. They wont run on equal rpm, it is caused by the fuel pump.
