Hi,
I've seen the posts about the TM based replacement for the MX coming onstream in July.
Does anybody know what the plans are for the CX range?
When are they due for run-out, and which NH range(s) will be used to replace them?

From what I've been hearing, the TN and TL will replace the C and CX. The TS will replace the MXc.
Later this year for debut I've heard, but might be changed one way or another.

Why not just buy a McCormick. The CX, MC and MX Maxxum continues in production under this name.

Actually i would have to agree with spn here cause we run case - 2 5150's but there is no way we would have a mx maxxum as some people round here have had lots of trouble.
they look alright but dont want the problems that come with them. I go with the NH. I actually tried a TM150 last year and it was really good. cab suspension etc and quite cheap as well.

Yeah, I would agree with you on that, I think the MX & CX are all living on borrowed time, they are both models which have been upgraded and added to, until they have to much load capacity for the original design, it comes to a point when you have to start from fresh with a new model or use someone elses !!

Sure, there comes a time when it's best to start over but the CX is well proven and McCormick must be confident of the in-built strength to produce a more powerful version (115hp) and there's talk of more to come.
Also, I understand the MTX (ie 6cyl Perkins engined MX Maxxum) has some internal changes to the transmission, hydraulics and brakes to make it a better tractor; it's not just a paint job.
Anyone out there tried or bought one?

Si, I guess that's true of the CX; maybe there'll be changes when McCormick really gets into its stride, they were quick to bring out the MC115. The re-engined MTX also came than people expected and there are other changes which must have been made to get rid of past problems. Read the press release on the McCormick website - www.mccormick-intl.com and work through to the 11th November one in quarter 4, 2001. Seems like being small they can respond quicker than a big organisation like Case.

UKfarmboy,
Dont get me wrong i really like the idea of McCormick coming into play and giving the big boys a run for there money. I will support them all the way but not by buying what is a effectively a Case MX with a few mods.
If they were seeling the old maxxum range such as 5150 etc then I would definately deal with them.
But at the moment it just comes down to the fact that they are new maxxums really.
I really hope they do well and take a big market share away from the likes of Case and especially the evil deere.

UKfarmboy, Having sold both Case IH and Mccormick, the MTx is a MX with a Perkins engine (yuck) and no major changes the MC is just a MC (a four cylinder engine with a MX gearbox) We are looking forward to the MX/TM replacement as it will give us more than one gearbox option to sell. You are right about one thing Mccormick are small, and can adapt a lot quicker to situations the the big giants. Cheers Simon

Hey Si,
Tell us more about Perkins and (yuck)
I've worked on Massey diggers with the 4.236 engine and only heard good things about the 6.354. I've always thought of them in a positive way.
I know they are a couple of generations back in Perkins evolution, but to me Perkins means good, solid, reliable.
What do you know that I don't?

Hey SPN,
Over here Perkins is one of those brands of engines that you either swear by,or swear at!! There seems to be no inbetween with them.
The V-8 and newer designs(4 and 6 litre)seem to get the most flack. The older ones(152,236,248,318,354) tend to be more well respected.
Some of the resentment also might stem from what they were bolted into also.

While we are on the CX subject, are all of them made at the Doncaster plant? I saw a CIH model C70 at the local dealer and it was stamped"Made in Germany" below the steering column.

That could be the cab plate. Tranny made in France, cab Germany, engine England, put together in Donny.
As for Perkins, some good, some bad, but compared with competition, JD Cummins, Iveco, I feel they are thirsty, and lack some real guts, my opinion. Simon
