They had a rigid frame instead of articulated frame. They could be steered 4 ways: front wheels only, back wheels only, front and back in opposite directions making the sharpest turns (most common steering used), and crab steering where all wheels would go in the same direction making the tractor go sideways. Crab steering could pull the the tractor back up the side of steep hills without pulling the back of the tractor down hill. A dealer in very steep southeast Washington state sold alot of them for very the steep wheat fields though in many areas the John Deere, Steigers, and Versatile and others were quite successful even with articulated steering. They were also popular in potato growing areas since the crab steering could easily move the potato combines sideways to allign them down the rows.

One of the most popular 4WD's sold in our area during the mid 70's; it and the 8630 Deere. Fair tractor for the times. I know they had a bit of planetary trouble on the outboards as well as the powershift trans.Don't think any are still in use here.
