How wil be the future for these companies. I,ve read on another site that AGCO wil use CAT engines in their equipment. How is that whit MF they have most Perkins and some Cummins/Sisu. I think that MF get,s on the whole line perkins. And FENDT use DEUTZ. Other lines of AGCO have cummins. What do you think?

Earlier, someone posted on another site, that Agco dealers were promised by Agco that they would not abandon the Cummins engine since it is believed that having the Cummins engine has helped sales. That's probably true of other engine makes. Cat (Challenger) dealers will probably have all Cat/Perkins engines. I don't expect to see much change in engine selection.

Martijn,
Even while Massey owned Perkins they chose to use Sisu engines. I do not think you will ever see Massey using all Perkins as they did up till the late 80s,but even then not all Massey tractors used Perkins for motavation.
Fendt uses Man engines in their larger tractors, and the Xylon.
Here in North America the Cummins(CDC) engines have a strong following, especially with the White crowd.

Hey woodbeef
The Perkins is a powerfull engine. We have a MF3050 and 3090 and they have 8500 & 6000 hours wo has never broken, or have problems. In our neighbourhood farmers have drive them more than 10000hours whitoutproblems. The Claas Xerion use the newest perkins 8.4L. Fendt still use MAN but in the future they gonna be use Deutz or CAT.

Hey Martijn,
I always wondered why Massey went and bough engines from Sisu, when they could have used their own?
What years are your 3000s? Mfd or twd?
Do you find the 3050 underpowered for its size? I've heard that the 3060 was underpowered, that's why the 3070 sold much better over here.

When Caterpillar built some articulated farm tractors back in the latest 70´s, one of the major problems was the weight. These prototypes were too much weighty for farming tasks. Since construction and mining components are designed and built for heavier duties, Are Cat engines more weighty than the ones they are replacing in the AGCO models? It that happens, how can it influence on a tractor previously designed for a lighter engine?

Hey European,
Good question!! Maybe the Cat ones will become the heavyweight niche market tractors?
