As anyone had any experience with the new range of Terex telehandlers yet, I know they are coming out of the Matbro factory in the UK. Are they being sold outside the UK yet Did any of the old Matbro Telehandlers make it out of the UK if so which models and where

I believe the licensing agreement with JD and Terex only allowed not telescoping booms to be manufactured but the date for this has passed and they are now available through out the UK this includes N Ireland where I have seen them advertised. Probably worth checking out the Terex uk website could get this through www.fermec.com who are owned by Terex. As for old Matbro machines these were exported to other countries to the best of my knowledge. There are some working in the ROI not sure on continental europe but i ave heard of someone in Sweeden looking for the operators manual for a Teleram 3

I saw a Matbro 250 and 280 out in New Zealand during 2001. The 250 was a pivot steer and the 280 was a rigid machine. Both on the same dairy farm.
I never thought to ask where they had them from as I just assumed that Matbro were available out there. Perhaps the guy imported them from europe.
I drove a old teleram one summer bale carting. The only thing wrong with it was no air conditioning! and it was perhaps a bit to tall really as we struggled to get into some small buildings.

How have those Matbro tele's held up? I heard that JD's tele is based off that design and that JD bought them out. I'm interested since we're going to be taking delivery of a 3400 in about 2 weeks. Did JD make many changes to the design before the current model? The salesperson said that JD supposedly redid the tele from the ground up. I don't know if he really knew what he was talking about though. I know they have a JD engine and ZF axles which I believe are used in some of their tractors also. Also, what about their hydralic system? Is that system JD designed or from the Matbro? Thanks

I think but I am not sure there were initially based on the matbro, but its you said, ask any JD rep/salesman and they will say its completely new.
I just think if you had something that worked well, but maybe was a little aged - what would you do?
I would tweak it here and there to make it better then tell everybody it was brand new!
JD - I am sure do the same

I heard that JD got stitched up when they bought the Matbro designs, apparently all they got was the equivallent of a fag packet with a rough sketch and helpfull directions as engine goes here!! Cheers Simon

The JD handlers use a 6400 series axles making it one of the only telehandlers that can be fitted with duals and still be covered by warranty. The engine is JD similar to tracs. The hydraulic pump is tractor parts. The only real Matbro bits are the boom and front carriage where there is a choice between the traditional Matbro unit and a JD unit something to do with pallet tines free swinging or not.

Thanks for the info. Thats what I kinda figured, some Matbro stuff but mostly JD parts or at least the important stuff. I haven't heard anything negative with the 6000 series tractors so I figure this unit shouldn't have any real problems and also the 6000 series has been out for awhile so any problems with their axles, engines should be worked out by now. I tried a gehl, jcb, bobcat and felt the JD still outshined them all. Didn't get to try out a manitou because of no dealer support. They look like they would have been very close but with JD there is plenty of support and we've had excellent service from them. Thanks again
