Q1: Im trying to import a .avi video in After Effects... but always I have this error:
"After Effects error: file ‘DVD Los hombres de Pep-Los amos del juego.avi’ cannot be imported — this ‘MooV’ file is damaged or unsupported."'
Q2: Id been using AE for a few month now, and suddenly whenever i import an AVI file it doesnt preview in AE, I can see the soundtrack but not the image.
For some reason when you import AVI's into after effects they don't show up as a video. When you click on the previewing screen it says "Video not available, cannot find 'vids:CFHD' Decompressor".
In After Effects Help page, there is a Note says: In order for After Effects to import a QuickTime or AVI file, the codec that a particular file uses must be installed on the computer. (Common codecs are installed by both QuickTime and Video For Windows.) If you receive an error message or the video does not display correctly, you may need to install the codec used by the file. see Obtain support for additional formats and codecs for more information.
As far as we know, AVI is a 'container' which can incorporate most any sort of video and audio format. That is to say, AVI videos can be encoded by different codecs like DivX/Xvid, which makes After Effects refuse them.
Then how can we make all AVI files compatible with After Effects? The best workaround is to convert AVI to MPEG/MOV(AVC) - the best two video formats for After Effects.
After countless tests, I highly recommend Pavtube Video Converter for Mac to all of you which can help you to encode any AVI files to Adobe After Effects supported MPEG/MOV(AVC) format (actually it is native supported by all Adobe products) at super fast speed effectively. What's more, besides Adobe After Effects, it also supplies powerful profiles to other NLEs, like FCP 7/X, FCE, Avid MC .etc
In addition, this program can support various common videos besides AVI, such as MOV/MP4,MKV,MTS,MXF,WMV .etc. The equivalent Windows version Video Converter is designed for PC users if they also want to edit AVI videos on PC, such as Premiere. Just download the right version and follow the step-by-step guide below to change AVI videos to After Effects smoothly.
The trail-before-purchase is supported, just feel free to try it:
