O.K. guys.....I've come up with this crazy idea(must be too much of the mud, freeze, mud, freeze cyle this year) that Cat might just be eyeing up CIH. I've been hearing some weird rumblings from Racine lately, that has got my pea-brain smoking!!
Afterall they were one of the top suitors last time around. They also have spun off what could have been a sticky spot with the DOJ. Might just be interesting for them to own 50% of CDC too. Seeing as how they are part owners of Agco now.

Hmm, interesting. I have heard rumors that AGCO might be interested as well. Lets see how this plays out

Interesting,
But if cat buys cih then:
agco, massey, fendt, case, ford, cat, claas to name but a few would be sort of joined!
therefore we end up with 2 massive ag companies of the above under whatever name and JD.
I cant see the monopolies and mergers commision granting that can you.
ok i have probably gone about 10 years down the line with the above idea but willit come?

Yeah, that´s the point, anti-trust legislation. Caterpillar construction and mining business can not grow too much because of market share. CNH has the same problem with ag business (I´m sure selling Winnipeg and Doncaster plants was not nice for them). Anyway I think legislation at both sides of Atlantic Ocean should be harder...
