Noticed on some litterature on JD7000 and 7010 series that in some pics the headlights are mounted approx. in the middle of the grill and in others in top of it. Is this US vs. European specs.? I know EU-rules are slightly different. I acctually do not know wich ones are on our future 7710.
Just curious

You are right, the north american models of most of the agricultural tractors have headlights mounted on top of the grill, while european ones have them at the bottom. As far as i know it is because of safety regulations and part of the homologation (the process of making tractors suitable for the EU-market). So i think your new tractor has headlights on the bottom, or as you say middle of the grill. Is that good or bad, well i think safety rules are a good thing. But it doesn't mean that it makes a tractor more beautiful. In the case of the JD's i don't mind. I think the European 7010 looks nicer than the American one. But with the New Holland Genesis that is completely different. I don't like the position of the headlights on their european models at all. The american tractor is much more of tractor just because of his 'face'.

Over here until recently,I think head lights were more of a cosmetic after thought. Headlights used to be an option,on US spec tractors. Now a days they are still more cosmetic in their approach(not sure what happened on the Deere 8020s though) vs what's mandated by law. Sometimes the add on ones actually made a better looking tractor ala the Ford 10 series with US spec headlights vs the grille mounted Euro ones. But as with many tractor related technologies,we are usually way behind over here!!
