Surely we cant vote for newly released tractors caus enone of us have done 1000's of hours on them. It is a completely false voting poll other than on what they look like and what thier spec is on paper.
We should be voting for tractor of the year for 2001!
My vote would be for the Fendt 926 updated version or the STX 450. The new NH TM's look good as do the McCormick range.
Come on were voting for the wrong year. This 2002 poll should be taken this time next year!

Should make a nice poll, you're absolutely right. But who on earth get's the chance to use ten brand-new tractors for about 1.000 hours? Maybe one or two, and that's not much of a survey is it...

Have to agree with the webmaster on this one. The Tractor of the year award is voted by journalists, they have had a good chance to familiarize themselves with the technology and specs of the machines. That has to be good enough. What's the alternative? Find, say 100, totaly unbias (none of us qualifies!) farmers and let them drive all ten tractors for a year. Would be interesting to hear their desicion, but a bit unpractical.
Another way, along the lines of Lee's sugestion, might be to have a huge poll where everyone can vote for a "Tractor of the year" - every year!
This way, there could be a massive ceremony each year where about a hundred tractors are awarded "Tractor of their year"
..." And the 2002 Tractor of the year 1988 goes to ....", and the 2002 Tractor of the year 1987 goes to ...", "...and the 2002 Tractor of the year 1986 goes to, for the third year in a row...". Get the idea?

Another thought on this "Tractor of the year" award.
Who get's to nominate the candidates. Why was not the STX-Steiger nominated? or the MT 700?

I've read the rules on the competition, they are as follows:
The jury will consider the tractors of any power meeting the following regulations: - Introduced tot the public before November 20th, 2001. The jury will not include in the award tractors introduced during this period but not in production by December 31st 2001 (a statement of the producers is sufficient) - Not selected in the previous edition
Each member of the jury expressed his rating, among other things about engine, transmission, equipment, comfort and so on.
