there you go woodbeef - it took all of a week for him to become one!
a quick visit to a factory and he's fallen for it!
the award for deeroid 2002 goes to laapa and were only 6 weeks into the year. I can see that its going to be a long long year - just wait till it actually arrives in august!
god help us all!

Some of the special Deere Cult Beer might still be in his system!!
We do not actually know what horrors befell our friend in the deepest darkest reaches under the Manhiem Factory.No...No I do not even want to think about it....All that incessent chanting Solid....Stable....Still blah blah blah......I just can not go on thinking what poor Laapa was forced to endure,at the hands of those hideous demented green monsters!!
Maybe we can de-program him? We must try Lee,we must try,for the free world's tractor supply depends on us all!! If we do not prevail,we might all be driving those sea-sick green tractors, and looking at the world through slime-green colored glasses,arrrrgggg.......

C'mon mr Sutton, you know you wanted that 8520T real bad! Had you gotten the right deal on that one and we'd not get a deal on a Demo-ed 7710... well who knows how things would have turned out on this board. And I DID make a recent post on the virtue of reversible driversposition on Valtra and Fendt.
And let's not forget: In the real world there will always be a certain percentage of Deeroids out there. If there were none here (some of us have already confessed to be partial to NH, AGCO and Valtra remember...), then what would this forum reflect? If nothing else, I might take on the role of Deeroid just to fill up that quota.
While on the subject of unreasonable fanatics. I purchased the book "Caterpillar Chronicles" yesterday. Great book with lots of interesting pictures. Lot's of prototypes and experimental stuff from mining to agriculture. Only bad thing: Talk about glorifying a brand. Tha author practically gives Cat credit for inventing everything from the Combine to Tanks to the prosses of mining itself. Reminded me a bit of some pieces of JD litterature where mr Deere is claimed to single-handedly have invented the plough! (He used a steel sawblade, how many times you think they told us that story in Mannheim, I lost count...)

By the way... this is our tractors at the moment: JD 1630 (ca 60 hp). will replace JD 2650 (ca 80 hp) w. loader IH 1455 (ca 180 hp by now) would replace if given right price IH 3588 (ca 180 hp) 2+2 will keep for low ground-pressure jobs Volvo BM 800 (ca 110 hp) will keep (JD 7710 will arrive in August) (Claas Dominator 86 Combine)
That currently makes 2 (small and old) Deere and 2 (big and cool) IH. The VolvoBM is Red as well.
Now, you guys who are all so immaculately neutral. How's the situation in your fleets?

oh dear me woodbeef,
I think we may of ruffled a few of laapa's GREEN feathers! I am pleased to say that the total JD count on our farm comes to a grand total of ZERO!!!! Yep thats right a big old 0!
Case IH are the prevailing make - 1x 5150 plus (125hp) and 1x 5150 pro (132hp). As you well know there was a MX270 but sadly she left us about a month ago to be replaced by a challenger 75e.
I will admit that a future purchase of a tracked JD is not completely out of the question but the price would have to be so good i doubt it would ever happen unless i took a trip over to canada to pick one up.
As far as wheeled tractors go it will either be Case CVX or Fendt 700's that replaced our 5150's. Not a JD although I will now definately look a valtra before we do anything and the dealer is only about 10 miles away! Ideally i want a new 2+2 on tracks instead of the challenger - but my emails to case, fiat have not been returned so i dont think that will ever happen!
happy deeroiding!

I`m all blue - always been....
1997 NH TX64 17" 1993 Ford 655 D 1994 Ford 8340 Sle 125 hp (150) 6200 hours 2000 NH TM165 Pc 160 hp (180) 800 hours 2000 NH 8670 Ps ss 170 hp (195) 1300 hours
I`m not even thinking of bying another tractor at the moment, but we had at Steyr CVT at demo a couple of days, and I like it....particlar the rough Sisu (Valtra) engine sounds great................ We have always used Ford`s and NH, and you problay wont trust when I say that I might look at somthing else next time, but the fact is that we dont have any NH dealer close. Choosing from that I should bye Case, as Denmark biggest dealer is 4 miles away......McCormick and Renault is close as well, but I like the Valtra´s...............like a 8350 on demo som time......

Woodbeef, I think you've come down with the Valtraoid syndrome. I hear its just as bad as deeriod My thoughts are that whatever fits your operation go for it. I also feel that by sticking with just one brand is only hurting yourself. I have a few JD tractors and a CIH tractor and love them both. What irritates me is when someone says they'll never buy brand X tractor just because its that brand. That's plain foolishness. In this day and age, you have to watch every expense. Sorry for the speech....just had to let that one out. BTW... I did see the valtra's at a show this past winter. You won't agree with my thoughts but; for one they need to have more dealer presence down here in MD before they might become popular. The cabs seemed to be crude but then again I guess they don't have the pricetag to boot. They don't offer any sort of full powershift yet and I about knocked myself out when getting in the cab and hitting the outside mirror..... Don't like that. To each his own and for me, I'll be sticking with my JD's and CIH's for now.

Here are my tractors and combine:
1.- 1997 Deutz-Fahr DX 3700EA. 70 hp, 2500 hours. 2.- 1978 Massey fergusson 147. 45 hp. 14000 hours,one time rebuilt engine.
3.- 1982 Deutz-Fahr M2680 combine. 12000 hours.
Before the 3700 i had a MF 178. It had 16000 hours when i replace it.
I think i'll replace the MF next summer and maybe the combine. The Deutz run fine.

All you that don't have Deeres are all mad, as they not Cat invented everything from Rubber tracks to Bullshit (and Deere use plenty of that!). My rep Arnold, told me that John Deere himself owned most of the world, so If you don't Buy Deere, you will go to camp X-ray and have your beard shaved off!!

I said earlier, I'd do the Deereoid talk to fill the quota if necessary. However this DiaDeere seems quite happy to do so. I nominate him as I'm afraid I have to resign the title. I may drive green on some days, but I always go to bed with a redhead. (and if you saw her, you'd all be GREEN with jealousy)

Hey Aaron,
I totally agree with you about the need for more dealers. But as with anything new, they come slowly. As for the cab, remember now that design has been around since 1991 and till this day its not all that bad.Just wait and check out the S series when you see one. As for the mirror,well......better watch for it next time!! Europe seems to have went past the full powershift.
Now about the Valtraoid part, sure I admit to it,but you'd better add Steyr to it too! If you dig around a bit, you'll see why!!
Mr.Laapa sir.......I'm sorry to inform you that we must take away the Deeroid title from you!! It seems that there is someone on this board totally more deserving of it!! Yes we have found someone that did not have to be brainwashed in the subterrainian torture chambers below the Mannheim factory, they seem to actually believe in JD all by themselves without any outside help!! Seeing as how you also have some mittigating circumstances yourself,I figure that you'll understand.

;D Thank you very much for my award, I will take it on behalf of my fellow Deeroids, who are proud to wear green underpants, with a yellow skid mark! And think one day you to Lee, Lappa and woodbeef will all become members of the galloping goat sect, now look into my eyes .................
