O.K. now I have two early Steyr 8080a tractors(SK1).I really like them except for the lack of leg room in the cab.
Does the SK2 have any more leg room, since they moved the fuel tank, and added nicer seats?
What about the current 90 series,is it any roomier?
What about the 9105 also?

The SK2 cab is basically the same cab as the SK1 for room, the only difference being that the SK2 has 2 full Glass doors compared to the SK1 which has 1 door that is only 1/2 glass.
As for the 90 series leg room is better but the head room is lacking slightly !! Austrian tractor designers must be short Arses
But the 90 series and 91 series is a great improvment

Have you had any problems with your front axle pinion, i.e the splines wearing on the drive coupling

Hey orange,
No not on either of them. One has 2500 hrs,the other has 5000 hrs. The low hour one has always had a loader on it. There are only 13 numbers difference in the serial #s with them also.
Have you been having trouble?

I have seen problems, it seems the center pivot bush's wear slightly and also the axle wears and this puts the MFD shaft slightly out of line and in turn wears the splines on the pinion, if you have probs with the roll pins shearing this is the cause. It would be worth while removing the front bush holder( it is only 2 bolts ) and rolling the axle out and check the condition of the bushes in the center axle pivot.
also when you grease these bushes, jack the tractor up to remove the weight from the axle pivot point and then grease the bush this allows grease to get to the top of the housing where it is required
good luck
