Lee,
Just how much usable ground clearance do most of them have? How large, and wide of tires are possible on them? Now I know that each manufacturer will be different to a certain extent, but lets talk "ballpark figures" here,eh.
Now what about stability? They look to be well balanced, but as we all know looks can be decieving!! I would imagine that the side engine ones would be a bit better with the boom in use while in off-camber situations then the rear engined ones, but is this so? Is the actual center of gravity as low as it looks to be?

Woodbeef,
Normal tele's like ours has about 3 feet ground clearance and standard tyres of 17.5 LR 24
Tyres go up a about 3 sizes as optional extra's. Our a re pretty big and give a big foortprint but for work on hills etc i would go up at least one size if not all the way to the largest. As an i dea they are about the same size in height as a front set of tyres on a mx 135 or jd 6920. However they are wider making it more stable.
size wise and stability wise:
ours is 7 foot 6 inches high, 7 foot 6 inches wide and 14 foot 7 inches long. It will lift 3000 kg's to a max height of 6.05 metres and a max length of 3.5 metres.
stability is good - as good as any tractor if not better. i've never been in a situtation wher ei felt it was dangerous, where i have on a tractor on numerous occasions.
106hp, wastegate turbo with max torque of 391.5 Nm at 1400 RPM. torque converter with a 4 speed gearbox. 3 steering modes - all wheel, front wheel and crab steer.
weve got a pickup hitch and the tele happyily pulls 12 tonne grain trailers full around. Pulls 40ft long artic trailers etc.
model number 629 T RRP £39,500 but bought for a lot less than £30,000!
The standard telescopic size is about 2.5 tonnes lift and 80 hp so ours is not really the norm at the moment, although there are a lot bigger ones such as the 730 which is a 7 metre reach. i am sure manitou have aweb site somewhere - check it out.
JCB are quite good but are also quite expensive. value for money wise manitou seem to be on the ball.
Hope this helps fill your brain!
