Hey Jim,
Last I heard they were going to open up a new office in the Chicago area. I've not heard who will be the head honcho though. It would be nice if they combined N.A. and put Allan in charge of it all!

The office is located in Hoffman Estates, (just West of Chicago). The head of the US division is Kimmo Lannenpaa, I think he is from the forestry side in MI.

Ahhh.......so they've brought in a company man! He's got his work cut out for him down there that's for sure! At least he has a quality product to push!! I'm sure Mr.Lannenpaa will learn about the affliction they have there known as color-blindness real quick!

Say Woodbeef! Given the option of the colors available for Valtra tractors in Europe, what would you suppose would be the best selling color across the pond?
I suppose Claas-green would not be as recoginzed as over here. Red,blue, green and yellow might find a home with neo-liberal "Deereoids", Bluesmen, Rednecks and Trakkies, hoping nobody will notice.
Any ideas, oh wiseman of the great north?

Laapa: The USA colors will be a history lesson on to itself and I am as curious as you. Now talking colours and my 1995 Valmet 6600- Originally red (orange)- changed to Valmet green in 1998. Why ? We were operating in forestry most of the year and field crop farming part of the summer - green complimented our business very well. Also at the time the Valmet had been damaged in a highway accident and required a bit of touchup so the colour change worked right in. This summer, if $ permit, the 6600 is ready for another paint job just to maintain its quality appearance. To-day we have moved out of field crops due to economics and weather challenges and have reduced our forestry time by half. Building our Wild Blueberry production is now our focus. So naturally Valtra Blue is the colour coming to mind for obvious reasons. There are a couple blue Valtras here in Nova Scotia and I like them. The cab decals are really the only extra cost <$100. Colours ,it can be argued are immaterial, but for me it is an identity for our operation and helps maintain pride in operating the Valtra. Beside it makes talk at our local coffee shop. Laapa maybe this will help answer the USA color question?? Jim

Hey Laapa,
Over here Valtra does it a bit different. Since it is a new brand dealers have some in stock, instead of everything being on the ordered unit basis. At first unfortunately all of the tractors were Valmet Red so they could be shipped from dealer to dealer. Valmet green is the 2nd most ordered color in Canada, with Valmet Blue being next. In the metallics I'd have to say green is #1,and the best looking too!! Nowadays the dealers order all of the colors for stock, but red still seems to be the most prevalent.
On a whole (if my pea brain is working this morning )Valtra Red is the #1 choice world-wide for over 50% of the orders.

8) Hi there Woodbeef,
A couple of years ago Valtra had tractors at ag exhibitions with paintings on the engine panels. Imagine they painted Johanna Herlevi on them. I guess they could even outsell JD with that.
Greetings from Holland

Hey JH,
How's it going? Still in the white collar world?
Yes,tractors customized with the picture of the very lovely Miss Herlevi would most definately outsell Deere, even in the midwest I bet!!
