Are any of you seeing cross-fertilisation between Claas and Valmet in your countries
I'm based in Ireland and I've noticed that a lot of farmers and contractors who have traditionally used Claas are now buying Valmet tractors as well .
Also, some farmers/contractors who have a number of Valmets have started buying Claas Combines, Forage Harvesters, Etc.
Is this happening anywhere else?

Here in Denmark we see Valtra and Deutz sold at same dealer. Case and Claas is sold at the same dealers, because they have the same nordic importer called LMB in sweden. But with NH bying Case it probaly just a matter of time before Claas is dropped, and some NH will become Case red!!!!. I think its a logic step that Valtra and Claas will get together a one point, simply because they have too, to compare with JD, CNH aso.

Even if Claas and Valtra go thogether, how will they compare to JD, CNH, Cat etc. I wonder if such a merger would really solve anything. For one thing neither Claas or Valtra has much cover in the US.

The Valmet/Claas dealings were started in Brazil in the early 1997 for the sale of Claas combine harvesters. They have expanded to certain European countries, since Agco purchased Fendt. It seems to work out very well for both companies in regards to distribution, parts, service and sales. Especially since they do not have directly competing products. In todays ag-economy it helps when ever you can share marketing synergies.
I've heard the rumors about Claas looking to buy a tractor manufacturer, but I do not relly think it would be Valtra. They seem quite happy right where they are. I think Claas has enough going on currently with what looks like they will be getting the short end of the stick from the Cat/Agco deal.

Has anyone heard anything about the SAME group working out a deal with Claas. Harvesting.com (Caterpillar site ) had a rumor about it today. No real leads.

That rumour doesn't seem to be based on reality. But than again you never know what going on until it hits you. It is true however, that Claas is working together with Same Deutz-Fahr in Italy. So Claas dealers also sell Same tractors. Claas does the same in France with Renault, in Great Britain with Valtra and McCormick, in Scandinavia with Valtra and in Germany with Fendt.

Don't know about the other scandinavian countries but in Sweden Claas and CaseIH are sold by the same dealer network (LMB). LMB is also in bed with JohnDeere in some ways, and Valtra has its own salesnetwork (only sells tractors). I think Valtra has it's own salesnetwork in Norway as well.
