Especially you woodbeef! go to www.agriculture.com then go to the INTERACT box and press 'talk' which are on the left hand side of the page. then move across to the right hand side of the page and got to 'machinery talk' then go to page 3 (you will log onto page 1) and about half way down there is a thread called 'horsepower question' log into it and read the initial question then start on the replies. OH MY GOD is all i can say cause there are some complete muppets out there that know absolutely nothing. one guy reackons his JD 8520 is putting out 530 hp on the PTO shaft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you've then got a JD Salesman telling him that this iImpossible. but the guy wont give up and then changes his figure to 550hp its worth the hassle of going to look at it! i could not resist putting a reply in myself cause you'll just find that you've got to!

Deeroids! thats a good one.
you'll be glad to know we've taken the plunge and purchased a used 75e with 1200 hours on it. its 2 years old with about 85% tracks. since that though the local deere dealer has come back with a very good price on a 8520 T.
nothing ever seems to be simple round here and to make matters worse its raining and we've got strong winds pounding at all the shed doors. whats the weather like with you - loads of snow i hope as i've got friends skiing in Banff at the moment

Man I just can not for the life of me figure out where Deere gets-off on this holier than though bs!! I could see it if they build the hands down best of the best in everything, but we all know that this is not the case!! I think that they are even starting to believe their own advertising hype!!
Is it not interesting that now all of a sudden your dealer miracuosly comes up with a sweet deal on a 8520T? Why did he not do this from the get go,eh? Was he lying in the weeds the whole time, just waiting to see how guilable you really were? Or was he hoping that you would become a Deeroid, and buy into the Deere religion,no matter what the cost of admission to this group!!
Yes,Deere has made, and still makes some good kit. But they are only a company, that builds tools that wear out over time.
Good luck with your Cat. Or is it a Claas?
Not much snow here, but I'm only about 25 miles north of Lake Ontario.

its a claas 75 e.
i will not sucome to the deere religion, i am determind to stay away from it. to be honest i have never really liked them, although the old 3650 was a good machine. it was probably badged differently with you. stopped making them in 1992 ish and they were all about 115hp. SG2 cabs i think.
it will and always will depend on price with me i am afraid. all tractors whatever colour have got steering wheels and gear boxes etc. just because of some fanatics out there (very sad by the way) JD has been mad einto this awesome machines that keeps getting bigger and bigger.
as for the slogan 'nothing runs like a deere' well tell that to my neighbour who bought a 2264 combine about 2 years ago and sold it half way through its first season, saying it was useless. he now runs claas/cat lexion

I think the Claas ones look better myself! Now I guess we'll have to wait and see what they look like in Fendt and Massey colors.
I was kinda leary about you getting one from over here in time. Especially the way that you wanted it equipped. What would have happened with the warranty, any ideas?

the warranty thing was not as bad as i 1st thought. basically the parts would be here within 24 hours and the usa dealer would get a john deere mechanic to do the work. although he would not be working for deere uk - if you see what i mean.
but anyway once out of warranty (which is a crappy 1 year here) we could take it to any dealer as it would be classed as extra work for their workshop.
there are artists pictures of the new cat mt range in massey and fendt colours somewhere on here i think. cant remember where though.
had a good one today. call from a guy in nebraska wanting a price for a new mx240 as he has been quoted about 65,000 UK pounds in usa dollars (if you see what i mean). well over here the the 240's are about 45,000 UK pounds brand new with all the spec as well.
funny isnt it that i have to go to th eusa for a deere but he has to come here for a case!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Drove another fendt 926 today! - fantastic machine, th egearbox is awesome. and you'll be glad to here the valtra has had a big press launch onver here now. its in every magazine practically. looks good but missing the vario gearbox if you ask me
