I didn't get any answers over on MT but maybe here since it is geared more toward other makes other than the big 3. I've looked at these tractors and like what I see. How are they holding up and does anyone have one with the reverse seat option? I like that idea. I see claas makes a 27' discbine that fits on the 3pt hitch. I figured I could do almost twice the acreage of a sp and still have a tractor to use in other applications. Also, is that vario working well as far as reliability? Thanks. www.twincreekfarmllc.com

The fendt 900 is doing very well in Ireland. We have a 916 & 926. The 916 ploughs over 60 acres on a tank of oil and the 926 set over 70 acres of grain with a 4m one pass. We had last season a 920 with the reverse drive system which was the easiest I have seen to us pull a lever and pul the steering wheel om to the seat and swing and lock it agin done in under a 1 min. For you if it is a mower combination the fend would be in my eyes the best option. Power managment is brilliant. As for other uses you can match speed with say a combine for un loading on the move with the joystick so quickly. Due the the two 900 we have purchased two 716's for othe work.

Some people I've spoken to said they had used Fendts before but since went to JohnDeeres and Magnums beacuse the Fendts were not reliable for heavy tillage work. The electronics were nice, but when you do not really need it other tractors held up better. I suppose in the US a 260 hp Fendt would be used for more specialized work since more large 4wd trctors are available (for heavy tillage work etc), but in most of Europe large MFWD tractors are used for ploughing etc.I have no experience of my own with the Fendts but that's what i heard.

I'm in Ireland as well. The largest contractor around here was totally Fendt for years. He has now replaced all his +/-120hp tractors with New Holland TS115 Turbos and TM135s, and his +/-180hp are all JD6010 and 7010. The only Fendt I've seen recently with his signage is a 1998 926 which he uses to reverse drive a two section vertically-folding grass mower. I've only ever seen it on the road, never mowing grass. Not sure the width, but with vertical folding it cannot be more than 20" I would think. Another option I have seen is to put a 10ft mower on the front and two 10ft mowers on the back. I saw a Case MX270 kitted out like this earlier in the summer. No need for reverse drive and the weight is better distributed - less weight on rear axles. Check out the Irish Pottinger importer www.traynor.ie for specs on their front/rear combination disc mower. I can't remember the URL for the US importer of Pottinger.
