As European suggested on the topic 'Come and join' i would like to start a chapter on never produced prototypes. I can't do that all by myself. If you have any ideas, text or pictures just send them to me.

Take a look at www.toytractorshow.com. If you click on the Caterpillar logo you will see brilliant pictures about Cat prototypes (wheeled models as well) parked at the American plant where challengers are manufactured. They were posted by a group of students who visited the factory (it shouldn´t be difficult to contact them). It´s funny to read some recent books that deny these prototypes were built in the 80´s. According to them one prototype was built in the 70´s and inmediately scraped after seeing the disadvantages of wheeled tractors vs crawlers (it makes me laugh...)

In the late 70s Valmet produced the 1502 which was a 6 wheeled tractor. Go to www.kolumbus.fi/juha.metsapelto for pictures of it. Let me know if that was what you saw or not.

I saw some pictures of Articulated Volvo tractors. Seems they were looking to enter that market in the -60s (with a converted log-skidder) and they also tested a 240 hp dump-truck based prototype in the late 1970s for the Canadian (and others) market where other Volvo tractos were sold through Co-Op. I'll see if I can scan the picture if interested.

Hey Laapa,Please do if you can. Those pictures would be interesting. What are they based on? The ag-tractors,or industrial line? any ideas where I can get ahold of some Volvo tractor brochures in English for my collection?
