Hi ya's well NH good talk this morning and i broke out the toys (not those toys pudds!!) and if there were some factors (almost like the 2nd coming ) it might happen the braked wheel would have to be on ice of mud with zero drag ,the tractor would need eneff torque to over come the lack of grip from only one wheel driveing ,and ya would need 100 % grip on the driveing wheel with the same rev input ,ya would (almost need my fish nets here )incress ya speed ..but as the 2nd coming had not happened yet somepeople do see this happening in a lock up on ice or a non grip surface in a feild it would be almost imposable to do but itcould be done ..so in short renze the 8 wonder may have fallen catch ya JD Kid

I think i maybe have to add some side details: The black slick mud (organic matter wash out) on the street after heavy rain fall usually settles in the lowest spots: Those drivelanes that are extra compacted by the contractor's 30 ton GINAF 6x6 manure truck. trucks usually have a trackwidth of 1.80 meter, while tractors usually have 1.50 meter. It was in the dark when it happened, but i'm pretty sure that this was the cause of the different frictions of the both wheels. (one wheel in low spot, slicky drivelane, the other on the street. And: the inertia of the tractor's mass will stay moving in line for some meters, before the mass is moved in a sideway direction. I havent tried more than a few meters because the drivelanes behind the barns are no longer, and the Deutz cant keep the revs to drive for too long with one brake locked. Woodbeef, one more time quoting myself: ".......I agree that, maybe, a diff lock isn't designed to take forces that big, but for the driveline itself it's nothing different ....." I do certainly agree that, when turning with the brake lock on, the differences in grip are 100% (not really grip but the forces due to the grip both work opposite on teh diff lock, = 100% diff LOCK load) and that the usual differences in the grip of left v.s side wheels are hardly 100% maybe, let's say 20% i guess?? so the diff lock handles 20% of the tractive force. when the diff is locked, the full 100% of these forces have to be handled by the diff lock in a corner. Is this enough "real world" boss ?? To whoever said it: I must say my Volvo isn't so beloved anymore. The replacement tranny (102.000 km)is also saggy.... I think i need an old 164... the Swedish M46 tranny, Volvo's B30 six pot..... No crappy french parts. I dont have any complaints about the coachwork, solid and safe. (personally tried and tested that with my previous 440.... And the engines are pretty o.k too (Volvo sweden, together with hired Porsche R&D people made a fine job of it) but the trannies are a total disaster. Next time it's an old swede, (older than 25 years is a "classic" so i dont have to pay road tax) or a 340, Dutch coach with Swedish driveline...
